If you have dial up, your comp. might explode

I tried the whole digital and graphic design thing and it didn't go well. I'm a fine artist at heart so that's what I went with. I know this is a bit different then the stuff that's usually on here but we are all artists right?

Just a little info. I attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati my freshman year until my first semester as a junior (01'-03'). I took a semester off then I transferred to Herron School of Art in Indianapolis and started over as a junior (04'-05'). Now I have transferred BACK to the Art Academy for my senior year. Confused yet?

Oh and I'm a photography major but...well, you'll see.

I'll go with oldest to newest

All work done at the Art Academy of Cincinnati

Quilt I made my sophomore year in my drawing class.......yeah...my drawing class.
Started out as polaroids, that were taped together, copied and printed out as one sheet, then sewn over.

Another quilt, same drawing class.

Installation about my wedding obsession first semester of junior year, another drawing class.

Photos I did junior year.

Dress I made junior year, using the last photo shown.

All work done at Herron School of Art (Indianapolis), all junior year.

Double exposure

Are we seeing a trend yet?

Pillows, with my face on them haha.

My experiment with ortho litho film. My dad had just left to go overseas. He basically had to work undercover, just blend in. What he did was scope out areas, if he wasn't blown up, then it was okay for the "general" to come through. At one point he was in 5 different countries in one week. Thankfully he came back home to us safely last month. Anyways, I was just reflecting on how my dad being gone would be affecting my nephew cause it's so different when you are a kid. My dad was gone a lot when I was younger and you never really know or see the real dangers when you are that young. It was just really strange to experience this again at my age.

Photos sewn on fabric, all of me. I won't post them all but if you are just dying to see one close up, let me know. A piece about reflecting on mood swings/multiple personalities. There's a ton more to it, it's just really hard to explain because it's so complicated in my head.

Just a quick piece I threw together for a short assignment. Pretty obvious.

During this year, I spent a lot of time examining myself. Mostly without makeup. Just about the way I looked and how getting older was changing me.

I finally went to town on the wedding dress. I was convinced by my teacher and other classmates to enter it into the student show and wear it. It got excepted and I somehow did it. It was really quite an experience and as everyone said, it really did help me get over the obsession.......well atleast calm down from it and move on.

330 pictures of this cat I knew, 15 different images. This bitch took 3 1/2 hours to hang with 2 people helping me, but it was well worth it.

A lot of my work is very playful but I take it very seriously. I'm a total art fag. Sorry this has been like my life story, I'm pretty passionate about what I do.

All i can say is -WOW-

Your type of art is surely welcome =)

I absolutely love the pic up top with the wedding dress girl and her wavy/curly hair.

The other ones lower down.. looks like something you'd see in a horror movie, my favourite kind of movie =) Absolutely love those.

I can really admire the time and effort you put into making the pillows and quilts and clothes mods. I can stitch a button back on, and sew up a small hole, but beyond that, I'm helpess !

Great work, and thank you for sharing =)

(btw ~ depositing this in the right forum! )

What Vex said. Lots of great stuff there and the variety it adds to the board is what make things fun. Hope you share some more. =)

Mae told me to post it there! I knew it would be wrong, geez.

Thanks so much to both of you, it means a lot.

All the pictures are of me with the exception of my nephew, I mainly work in self portrait but I'm trying to move on to other things.

lol Actually you spurred me to append Photography to the Traditional/Freehand art since its more of its own category than being in with the pixel art, and 2d manips/digitally painted stuff.

Mae was right for it belonging in the 2d at first. We dont get many photographers and crafters coming through so we didnt have a haven for you guys yet. Now we do!
