Couple background - WIP

Here is the background I have started for the ranger/cleric team. I am still working on the pose and the lighting. Plus I need to add in the cleric epic 2.0 and add the lightning to the ranger epic 2.0.

The clients are very happy with the overall concept of the background.

Credits are on the seperate threads cause I'm too lazy to retype them!

Yeah that's actually where they are under the ground slightly LOL Forgot to mention that I still needed to work on those. Plus her hand is actually facing palm out but the lights washed it out.

I like where this is going... I think posewise this would be terribly uncomfortable. I would rotate her a a bit to the right and then plave his hand on her upper leg (thigh area)... The arm seems bent at an odd angle. =/ Everything else looks sweet, I can't wait to see it finished. :)

she kind of looks like she's going to possibly caress his cheek..possibly give him a smack. Perhaps put her hand on the other side of his face as if she were going to touch his cheek with the front of her fingers instead of the back?

Her armor, especially the hip armor, looks like it would be uncomfortable to sit in that position but the pose is cute.

He looks way less gay at this angle. I dig the hair...it's all Brad Pitt in 7 years in Tibet meets Dreadpirate Roberts! (I'm constantly trying to get my husband to do his hair like this hehe) She looks stiff...possibly because she's in several layers of plate however ;) Maybe if her head wasn't at such a stiff angle it would soften it up a bit. I didn't notice in the other images that her armour is actually scuffed in places. Vereh cool.

Agree with the c/c given. To fix that hip plate issue, you might want to consider putting her up on a higher step with him behind her higher up. or just take the hip plate off actually. Her neck does look unnatural. Maybe tilt it down some, move her body closer to him?

Ok still need to work on her head some more LOL I move her around a bit and tweaked her arm a bit more. Still not happy with the lights though.

I'm going to have to figure out a way to take out some things though. This took 3.5 hours to render with just shadows turned on!!!

BTW I just showed this to my husband since he got home from work. His immediate comment was "Don't worry, dear, the rez effects will be gone soon." ROFL I guess that caption would take the place of the funeral pyre image LOL

HAHAHA. The hip plate and legs look way better :thumbsup

I get the feeling she's planning to do something to his feminine arse that is not able to be show on TV. ;)

Why do rangers all look soooo...fruity? *snickers*

But the image itself is pretty cool! I like the move of the hand to the other side of his face, much cleaner...

why did it take 3.5 hours ?
Sunbur 20 years ago
I'm not really sure why. Without shadows (with draft settings) it takes about 45 minutes to render at this size. The first image only took 10 minutes to render with shadows and raytrace. The differences between the first and second image are:
1. Added the cleric sheild
2. Dropped down from 8 lights to 4 lights in image 2
3. Dropped all shadow maps except 1 in image 2
4. Pose tweaks on both characters
5. Moved the flail out from under her hand

I even completely cleared out my temp files and did a clean boot before rendering the 2nd image.

I'm going to try today to turn off some things I have running in the background to see if that makes a difference. Plus watch my processor/video speeds during the render to see what is going on.

what render settings do you use?

AwfulSoul has some pretty good ones on his forum.

It shouldnt take over an hour to render that unless you're doing AO on everything in the scene, which doesnt appear to be the case.

The lighting is still a little harsh, i would work with a spotlight or two and a very faint infinite light just to give a little bit of visibility on the entire scene.
Adiene 20 years ago
Love the improvements/fixes. I totaly agree with Vex about the lighting . :)
Sunbur 20 years ago
Well I think I may have resolved the render time issue. I deleted 1 light and now it renders out in less than 5 minutes :boogle

All other changes were in postwork

EDIT: guess it helps if I upload the right image :blush

Is he looking at her bewbies? O_o

I like the damage you put on her armor :thumbsup The weapon placement looks good. His armor looks really saturated but that's more preference probably. All the fixes look good!
Sabby 20 years ago
I think her head should be tilted a tad more down... Right now it looks like he is in her "personal space" and she is backing up... So maybe tilting her head downdards a bit will make her look more affectionate. I agree the gashes in the armor rocks! Love it!

Also, what hair is that on her and him? I need some more male hair, but its hard to find good ones...

*oops edit: If your done it looks AWESOME as is- I was just adding in personal preference CC*
Sunbur 20 years ago
Her hair is Mystic Moon (for V3 but can be tweaked for other models) and his is Toyo Hair (comes with fits for several of the DAZ models but I haven't been able to tweak it to fit The Freak)

The positioning of their heads/eyes was a request LOL With her being a high elf, she usually looks towards the top of his head. And with him being a half elf, he is usually looking at her chest. LOL I may still go back in a tweak it again but they are both happy with it.

umm I guess no one's noticed, but it looks like his expression is still the glare / sneer from his solo pick... doesn;t fit the mood of the piece IMO.. =p
