Two references to fresh fish in one paragraph? Could just be a slip up in writing, or it could be intentional. We don't have any fishermen on board, although we do have a butcher...
The alarms are a nice touch. Screaming for help in the dark, as though someone could save you. She didn’t see me coming. Didn’t know that I was gutting her like fresh fish until the damage was done. This one doesn’t see me either, the polished steel table holding her above the ground. A waiting sacrifice upon the alter. The surgeon’s blade feels cold in my hand, and then warm as I sink it into her belly. Like fresh fish. Like the other, she was someone important. Wakes, and screams, but I don’t stop. They all scream. Always. Forever. And then the screaming stops, and the alarms stop, and the footsteps come. Clank. Clank. Clank.

You can post in character when you vote, as long as you make it clear what your vote is by the end of your passage. I'm new to this forum, but in other mafia games I've played there have been other in-character threads. I was thinking of starting one in which I interview people for an article about companions.
So the altar clue could be the former shepherd, or the fish clue could be the person who washed up on the beach, and later calls shadow a backwater. My eye was caught by "Like the other, she was someone important" but I don't know what that's about.
In the mafia scene we have the wrench, but tons of the people in this group are fixits of some kind. The person who sabataged the engine was knowledgeable enough to do it but not knowledgeable enough to conceal what they had done. Now, was the sabotage the SK or the Mafia? We don't even know that.

*nods* Some enjoy posting their individual character's reactions to the death scene in the kill thread, but you're also more than welcome to start your own IC threads (like pooka's idea). And, naturally, you're encouraged to discuss in /ooc

So what of it... Tony only deals with meat, not fish.
the way I see it....
Alex- has had military training.. loves to fix things.. which means he knows how to break them.
Peter- who does whatever is needed... Did lots of things in R&D... knows how break things.
Marko- Has no clue of his past but looks to have military ops training... which could include sabatage of any enemies equipment.
Trina- Rich brat who had a silver spoon in her mouth who has had access to lots of tech training.
Layla- quick study on games of chance who has motive to kill with prehaps bad gambling debts?

At first I thought that the line "Like the other, she was someone important", was a reference to someone else that the SK may have killed. However, I think I've figured out what was meant. The SK is thinking about two seperate deeds that they have performed (I seperated them with a ****). The second deed is obviously the death of the mayor. The "she" that is referred to in the first half is Serenity herself, from when the SK sabotaged the engine.

In my own defense I would like to say that I specifically stated that Alex does not know much about spaceship engines. His expertise is mostly in terrestial vehicles and other small machines.
In all liklihood, I think anyone could muck up an engine, though. Plus, Kaylee says that the SK "Went and overrode the safety locks on the coolant chamber by remote." That doesn't really sound like mechanical work, but instead sounds more like it would have been done via computer by a skilled hacker.

Also, based on the two conversations between the mafia members, I believe that there are three of them, including the godfather. That's how many we had in the bladerunner mafia (also run by veri), which also had right around 14 players.
Also, based on this, I think one of the mafia has to be pretty strong.
Much to her own sorrow; there was a moment of quiet, long enough to make her anxious, and then she was grabbed by the hair and flung bodily into the nearby crate.
