Completely understandable. It does not get any easier. My Brother died 19 years ago and I cried about him just this morning.

I refuse to see this movie which I realize is pretty close minded of me. But I lost my very first love to that stupid Dessert Sheild/Storm. Even after 14 years if I want to know how it was, I can go read the box full of letters I still have.
Completely understandable. It does not get any easier. My Brother died 19 years ago and I cried about him just this morning.

Veb and I caught it tonight. Aside from me wanting to download the soundtrack right the fuck now, it was an incredible movie. Jamie Foxx has really come a long way as an actor. Although I lost count on how many times he said the F word after about 100.

Yes I LOL'ed at this part too. Movie was a little slow to me. The ending just kinda hits you in the face...I was expecting more. ( I didn't read the book ) My GF really didn't like it...I thought it was OK. It was good to see Jake play a tough....kind of....marine. Jamie Foxx was good too.

I just wanna pull Jake Gyllenthal on my lap and take a bite out of him :D. In any case, loved the soundtrack, and the movie definately made me think. My dad spent 6 months in the desert and came home with a few stories, but he, and many military people, have a way of keeping the 'what was it like' inside their own heads. I think they nailed down the military culture almost -disturbingly- well in some places, though there were a few parts I had some accuracy issues with. Still, they did a respectable job.

My father was Navy so he spent his time on a carrier during the gulf war. He did get back in time to see me graduate high school though.

I rented it, along with The Squid and the Whale, and Junebug...watched the other two, which were lame, and ran out of time before I could watch this...*sigh* guess I'll rerent it this weekend :P
