I heard the movie was a little heavy handed with the political messages and possibly too scary/disturbing for young children. I'm curious to see your take on it.

it did have A LOT of adult understood inuendos more than I'm used to in kids movies, Anu and I kept looking at each other with our mouth dropped with the " did they just say that look"

we took my 6 year old son and his 7 year old best friend and there were parts that were very scary my son was cluthing my arm tight with his eyes closed, with lots of close calls slightly higher in the scary factor than the bruce chasing nemo scene, but not extreme imo... oh the little littles yeah too scary for them under 4 i say no go

though you can tell the bulk of the movie was meant for the adults with all the "underlaying political messages" and not the kids it was still kid friendly enough for the kids to take it as whatever and just enjoy it for the cute fuzzy penguins

all in all it makes you laugh
and we had a good time

It was Seven Brides for Seven brothers only with penguins. My GOD there is a lot of singing in this movie. Mike and I kept giving each other looks too and during one part I just covered my eyes and just shook my head. It was friggin cornball. Don't get me wrong, the music was great but geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez. Catherine loved it of course.

Doh, I just looked at imdb.com and saw that Steve Irwin was in this. He played Kev, which I think was one of the weird seagull/hawk birds. =x Whoever sang for Gloria, Britney Murphy voiced, has a beautiful voice and I'm for damn sure it's not her own.

My daughter (adult) went with one of her friends who had two young boys...7 and 4, and both boys got a little tense. The four year old said he didn't like a few parts, which meant they scared him. However, like I told my daughter - it was rated PG, not G.

I've been waiting for this movie to come out. I'm a huge Robin Williams fan. I heard it was hilarious. I'll have to see if I can get a kitchen pass one night and take our daughter to see it.

Wow, there was sure a heavy hand at the end. I mean come on, the story is proceeding as a normal kids movie does, then BAM the heavy hand of environmentalism reaches down at the end and somehow the ENTIRE WORLD follows the decree of the UN (I assume) and the fish return. Really now, the rest of the world gives two shakes about other species that are all but extinct, but a thriving species has a one pengiun emmisary save the entire contients ecosystem?
