I don't know, they sorta fixed Halle Berry's hair. Phoenix blowing the door down to walk casually through it was kinda cool.

*screams* why won't they let me install the damn quicktime here so I can watch this.. stupid privledges crap... I saw the promo photo of beast and i have to say I was impressed. I was expecting it to be something VERY crappy but when you think of someone who can sound very proper while spitting out high brow verbose prose that's funny and witty.. Kelsey Grammer does rank pretty damn high. Just wish he was bulkier / more muscled

Doesn't matter who's hair they fix or how many special fx they use. Every X-Men movie thus far has sucked. This one will be no different. Completely destroying years of backstory, picking actors with little to no character likeness, and inventing their own mutants to fill poor writing will get them nowhere. KELSEY GRAMMER?? WTF??!

You're not the only person I know with similar complaints.

So I'll say it as nicely as I can...

If you don't like it, don't watch it. Sure, you might be only one person, but if hundreds of thousands of people who didn't like it didn't watch it, it would make a dent in the total box office, and discourage them from making more.

Personally? Like Goblet of Fire, as well as other movies that have been /adapted/ from print sources, I love the X-Men movies. I couldn't give a flying crap if movie-Rogue is 18 and hot, with a smidgin of Southern Belle, where Comic-Rogue was 30ish and hot with a Southern Belle Accent thicker than cold molasses in January. It's X-men; the writers did a great job trying to get 30+ years of story into 2 hours; it didn't suck horrible goat ass like it could have. (A la Daredevil.)

Of course not, there are others as enlightened.

The first time I saw X1 and 2 was a downloaded dvd rip, they didn't get my money.

I do give a flying crap. If they wanted to reimagine an amazing story with everything about every character spelled out to a T for them they could have called it 'Not X-Men'.

A great job??....At least they got the names right....

Thank god the Sin City duo and Spiderman guys figured it out how to interpret a comic for a movie.

Still entertaining anyway even if its not true to the comic.

As someone who was not a comic fan fanatic, I love these movies. I am sorry it does not meet your comic expectations, but honestly I have never seen a movie meet any of my book expectations. Its just not possible to shove everything I can imagine and visualize while reading into a 2 hour movie. Even if all I am reading is Oh the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss.

I have to force myself to take the movie based on its own merrits. Not how I interperet the book.

Honestly I cant wait for X3!!

I don't think veb was too pleased with the trailer either and yeah he's a comic buff. I personally hate it when movies aren't true to the book, but for the most part these comic movies are alright. Granted I didn't feel like watching x2. I mostly just bug mike to tell me about how it's really suppose to be after the movie.

What's a movie review without the bad though? Feel free to gripe, I want to hear the bad stuff too.

Ditto -- I never read comics as a kid, so this is all new to me, and I love it. However, my imagination when reading far surpasses anything they could put on film, so I'd have to agree here (zoiks!)...but I go see a movie to see the MOVIE...not how a book has been interpreted. I must say too though, I'd rather see the movie first and then read the book.
Anulien 20 years ago
The "does not hold true to the book" argument does not apply to comics made movie. Yes, there is lots of room for interpretation when doing a book to movie script; especially in the visuals department. But you can't take a story that has over 40 years of ongoing development, with almost every possible character interaction already explored, that has already provided every graphic detail to its readers, and make an abomination of a movie series. But Hollywood figured out a way to do it with X-Men by throwing off character timelines and rolls.

At least they are introducing Angel in the Calisto timeline; not as his self succesor Archangel.
