Background info: Shay came from a 'normal' family. Mom, dad, one younger sister, and two younger brothers. Her childhood and teen years were very nondescript. She enjoyed popularity in high school, was prom queen, and went straight to college upon graduation. Her major at UCLA was English, but she quickly changed to criminal psychology and law when a very close friend was murdered. The killer was never caught, and as a vow to her friend, Shay promised to try and do what she could to prevent the same happening to others.
After working on the LAPD, Shay became disillusioned, and decided the force wasn't for her. She is now a popular novelist, working on her third book. Weapons: She favors a naginata that is black with simple flower scrollwork on the shaft and on the scabbard but also uses a katana, sai, knives or just about anything she can find.
Personality: Mai is a hunter and everything around her is seen in the realm of nature, hunter, prey, herds etc...
Background info: Mai was blind from malnutrition as a child and learned to hunt and fend for herself when she found a wounded stoat and nursed him back to health. He stayed with her and she followed him around learning to hunt by sound and smell. Her village was attacked when she was young and her stoat friend was wounded. She was found by the warlord swinging a staff to hold people at bay and standing over the wounded animal. Her father had been killed in the attack and the warlord, impressed with her bravery, took her to his home and gave her a place as a servant to his wife. She became very fond of them both so when a rival warlord attacked their village and stormed their home, she stood ready to fight with her mistress. The attackers had killed the warlord and his wife did not wish to be a prize. She attacked one of the guards who came for her and told Mai to run. Her stoat bit one of the men and the victim killed him for it. Mai ran and hid, waiting until dark to sneak back into the home. She knew the halls well and the darkness did not hinder her. Sneaking into the master bedroom, she managed to kill the new conqueror and two guards before she was captured. Chaos reigned for they could not decide among the generals who was in charge. Mai was tied and thrown into a cell while this matter was cleared up. Here she was visited by a strange man who smelled of fuji flowers. (wisteria) He told her that he would give her a great gift and would set her free if she promised to leave the village and not seek revenge on the men who now held it. She promised and that night she was made a vampire. Forever carrying with her the scent of fuji flowers. (Aside from admiring her fortitude and courage, it could be assumed that her creator had some interest in the political goings on with the warlord's army who had taken over the village. Mai seemed to have put a cramp in his plans but she does not know if he was able to continue his objective without the warlord. She never saw him again but sometimes she would catch the smell of fuji flowers above the scent of her own and she thought that perhaps he watched her from time to time.)

It took me two hours to compile and compose this so forgive me if I just paste this :P

-Armor: Black leather halter and breeches and knee high soft boots (similar in taste to the monk EQ1 style) but with a below the knee leather jacket. Think Highlander, as in great to hide swords under. Its actually very similar to the coat I drew for a commission only without the collar and dressy sleeves.
-Weapon/Shield: Carries a traditional samurai daisho (basically long and medium katana style set of swords) plus an assortment of knives.

OK for Adult art interpretation? (nudes, racey, etc): no, not really her character type. not that it would bother her being nude but she doesnt regard herself as 'sexy'.

Characteristics (Tattoos/Scars etc): Her entire right arm was ripped off in battle and crudely replaced with somewhat unpleasant looking but very well constructed gnomish technology by a rather warped and more than a little insane gnome necromancer. Her right eye was also damaged and she retains a good scar through the top and bottom lid. Still bears the Ashen order tatoo on her abdomen

Personality (quotes, habbits, traits etc): If Capt. Malcolm Reynolds hadnt said it first "I aim to misbehave" works.

History (RP backstory): Era EQ1. Tadashya was the daughter of a influential and wealthy family in the furniture business for Freeport to Qeynos. Despising the lavish lifestyle her family held dear she renounced everything and become a monk of the Ashen Order. Her family in turn denied her existance and her inheritance. 10 year of devout servitude to the Order she was assigned to take missions to the Luclin. In a mission to Katta Keep she was set upon by too many enemies and had her arm essentially chomped off. To keep herself from bleeding to death she cauterized it in a watchfire and managed to escape only to pass out from shock. It was then that a gnomish necromancer/tinker found her and was so taken by her he decided in his warped fashion to gift her with a new arm and extended her life with his magic. Soon after this accomplishment he was killed and Tadashya was forgotten in his lab. Many years passed.

Long story very short she ended up in a glass containment in the necromancers lab where she was found post-Shattering (EQ2 Era) when the remnants of Ak'anon were being transported to Qeynos. Her family still owned a flourishing furniture company and paid to have her and her personal effects returned to them.

Though her closest family members were long dead, her 'new' family still regarded her as nothing more than an obligation. The Order regarded her as an abomination and stripped her of her rank and title and so she fled to Freeport and made her life there as essentially a mob boss type character. A mover of merchandise. She now carries bladed weapons (see above) that were never permitted by her order and dresses in a less-than monklike manner. She is known only as Ash now.

Her trusted bodyguard is Vexation Anathema, a dark elf renegade shadowknight with no ties to Freeport or the SK order. But hers is another story.
