Separation Anxiety.
Plain and Simple.
My last dog would go out and piss on my couch any time I left him alone longer than 5 minutes uncaged. I would go to the shower and the bastard would hit one on the couch no matter how many times I walked him during the day.

My dog hates to go to the bathroom near her "space". You might want to ask a vet for more professional advice, because most dogs will not tend to "mark" in their kennels.
(My dogs only gone potty once inside since we potty trained her (shes a year old too) and that was mostly due to sickness, and she felt so bad we didnt even have to fuss at her).
Heres the big question. When she DOES go inside, what do you do?
Do you fuss at her? How often do you bring her outside and tell her to "go potty". Our dog asks us to go outside, and well say "do you have to go potty" and she runs to the door.
Now I dont really know how to induce this behavior beyond making sure you take her outside every few hours and tell her to "go potty" and treat her when she does.
When she DOES go inside, tell her "bad girl" and then bring her DIRECTLY outside and say "go potty!". Especially if you can catch her "at it".
All things considered, dogs rarely go inside to "get back at you". They dont attach any particular signifigance to acutally going to the bathroom, other than it upsets you. Ive found that in most ways, dogs work much better if you make them "work for the treat". Treat her for several weeks for just going to the bathroom, and she'll be begging to go outside - and save your carpets.~
Edit: To Sergon!
Dont ever leave your baby unleashed! I take mine into the shower with me (well she stays outside)! She also is just about never truly unleashed in doors. Esp, Dia, with yours being so young, they just dont have that "well I shouldnt do that, mommy will be mad!" thing yet. If we leave her alone, things will be destroyed just because shes "having fun!")

Sorry starry the dog is in the doghouse in the sky. I had to put him down because I could not find a home for him and I was moving in to a no dog building. I tried and trust I felt like a fucking horrid person for having to do that. I probably will never have another dog because of that.
I will add that I rescued that dog from the pound and he got 4 years of life he would not have had. I also did not raise him and thats the main reason he was such a nightmare. I do miss him alot though.

Oh poor baby, /hugs!
This puppy is the first pet weve ever gotten from a breeder, and not rescued from the pound. Even tho pound animals might have a few more emotional or devlopmental problems over their lifetimes, they are so happy to have a happy home that its worth it. =)

Poor Shadow lol. She's was a 5 year old pound dog that we adopted. She had been in there for over a month and getting close to being put down. She had this heart breaking letter from the previous owner that couldn't handle her in the home with another baby coming along. Shadow just gave us this look, but didn't even bother to jump up and bark like the other dogs. She just sat on her little cot wtih her back to the gate. Its like, she knew her time was up and no one was coming for her.
So we took her and she's the best dog I've ever seen. She does tricks, listens, plays and tolerates Catherine, I mean...christ she's choking her and she took ever second of it. The only emotional problems she has is she gets all jealous when she doesn't get attention and she'll go in the other room and sit by the dining room table in the corner.
Anyway, reinforcement and patience. That's all you can do.

Friend's dog has that same thing Sergon. She won't poop or get in the trash with someone there, but if we leave for 5 minutes she flips out. She poops everywhere, spreads trash through the house (doesn't chew it or anything, just spreads it around) and she flips out when we come back and starts crying and stuff. Anytime anyone comes over she cries and goes crazy for an hour - it's seriously annoying.

Well Loki had a funny story behind him as well. I was about 3 months divorced and I started doing I mean dating this girl who went on a "Save the worlds strays" kick. She talked almost everyone she knew in to going to the pound and getting a dog. We went to the pound on a saturday and were browsing through the dogs and I had Zero intent on taking one home. Dont get me wrong I love dogs. Anyway way in the back was this mut basenji/boston terrier just hanging out.
For shits and grins I decided to have the workewrs take him out to the fenced run area. I have always loved the basenji breed (Barkless). Anywho there was another family with a golden/lab mix in the run next to me. The lab wanted to check out loki so he stuck his nose through the fence to take a sniff. My dog (loki) took one sniff and lifted his leg and let a huge piss fly right on the labs face. I almost fell to the ground laughing. I was like your going home with me! So I started the paper work.

she's 1 and half years old. its not a potty training problem. SHe's been cage trained and then she started peeing in it when i left. thats right peeing and sitting in it.
she just had her sister taken from her and proballly with me leaving its too much. i hadnt even thought of seperation anxiety. i will go read about it so thanks! i always put SA and tearing things up together. Also i do not approve of keeping her leashed at all times. She is a VERY good dog until recently with this poop stuff. Like i said she's not a puppy, young but trained. I believe she's does know when she's done something wrong, she acts totally different and will go hide. I dont have to say a word just walk quietly into the room where the poop is and she puts her head down.
at 1yr old a dog is able to hold urine/feces for up to 12 hours. So says the books and vets. Not that i make abbey wait that long ever. They have the ability to know. I know SA is a tough problem to beat i hope its in the early stages still!
thanks again all

My roommate's dog had similar problems. It would go crazy whenever it was left alone. I talked to my mom's friend, who is a professional dog trainer. Her advice was to crate the dog. Just stick him in a crate (wire bars is best she said) and eventually he'll get used to itand start to like it. When he's nervous he'll go in there and it will calm him down, and you can leave him alone without him acting up.
