Your eq name
Do you respond to it? I remember one time I was talking to Ladase on the phone (he was helping me put this site up) and he kept calling me Mae. Very weird. Sometimes I'll run into an old eq friend I knew before I played Maelarya and when they call me Cait, it makes me chuckle. When I was in Union that's all anyone ever called me. Then to go from Cait to Mae but be recognized as both...I think I played eq for too long.
Take Vex for example. I know her as Venilae, Vexiphne, Veirna and Kat. =x
Miralyssa I know as Mira, Viamorte and John. He's forever Mira though to everyone.
Are you attached to your eq name? Did it in someway define who you are? With Cait and Mae, at first I played into the bitch exterior I portrayed in game into real life. Veb didnt like that. /snort Then as Mae on the rage board, I became this mother hen of sorts. Its funny, I think people remember me as being a bitch, but when people approach me, I'm that Angry Crayon girl or just sweet Mae.
I played eq for too long. :o
In eq2 I'll be Mae again, but not Maelarya. I'm going with Maelevolent Dys'Grace. Come on, how cool is that?!! I would prefer my friends (and you know who you are) would call me Roz, but Mae will do.
K, everyone else share!
:ghug
Anulien calls me Gilly all the time...he switches between Gilly, Gilae, Ruth, Ruthie, and sometimes he calls me a monkey but what are you gonna do. Vulash has called me Gilly on more then one occasion as well. Both of them I consider RL friends at this point but if they wanna call me by my game name I consider it a term of endearment...vocalization of a common interest...or some such nonsense.
Actually Meawean is the only of my "EQ friends" that has never called me Gilly...but that's because we met out of game before we ever met in game. And he calls me Skittles...so he obviously can't be counted :P
Although, one time, me, graznoth, and a friend of ours were at a Circuit City. Our friend asked why graz was still playing, and graz said, "I'm graznoth. I'm motherfucking GRAZNOTH."
I nodded my head and our friend shook his.
/shrug

It was a good name when I was a level 15 newbie, but now after all those levels, aas, flags gear, it looks kinda lame.
When I first started playing, I used to call people I met through the game by their game names, but that's long since gone away...

I refer to Graznoth as "uber-sk" to my EQ pals, hahaha. I haven't spoken with the lad in a while.
I used to be on staff for a writer's area on AOL called The Amazing Instant Novelist, where I was known as NOVL Earth, and off duty as Earthqueen, so I responded to "Earth" for a long, long time. I never really identified with "Queen" though, and still don't.
So bottom line, I will respond automatically to debbie, Zaura, Z, or Earth. Oh, and Mommy also , oops. I remember one day when my kids were being exceptionally difficult in a Walmart and some kid whined "MOMMY!!!" and I pretty much growled in response, "WHAT??" and turned around to see it was not my child and the kid's mother was staring daggers into my eyes, LOL. I shrugged and told her I was sorry, but coincidentally, my name was Mommy too.

LOL I take it she didn't see the humor in it? I swear my GF says she's changing her name from mommy to something else.
I let out a big /sigh everytime I'm at the store WITHOUT the kiddo, and see kids throw a fit. Its nice to know its not mine thats acting horrible for once. :)
