Your eq name
Do you respond to it? I remember one time I was talking to Ladase on the phone (he was helping me put this site up) and he kept calling me Mae. Very weird. Sometimes I'll run into an old eq friend I knew before I played Maelarya and when they call me Cait, it makes me chuckle. When I was in Union that's all anyone ever called me. Then to go from Cait to Mae but be recognized as both...I think I played eq for too long.
Take Vex for example. I know her as Venilae, Vexiphne, Veirna and Kat. =x
Miralyssa I know as Mira, Viamorte and John. He's forever Mira though to everyone.
Are you attached to your eq name? Did it in someway define who you are? With Cait and Mae, at first I played into the bitch exterior I portrayed in game into real life. Veb didnt like that. /snort Then as Mae on the rage board, I became this mother hen of sorts. Its funny, I think people remember me as being a bitch, but when people approach me, I'm that Angry Crayon girl or just sweet Mae.
I played eq for too long. :o
In eq2 I'll be Mae again, but not Maelarya. I'm going with Maelevolent Dys'Grace. Come on, how cool is that?!! I would prefer my friends (and you know who you are) would call me Roz, but Mae will do.
K, everyone else share!
:ghug
When we were in Vagary, I remember how weird it was that everyone referred to each other by their first names. Its almost harder to remember real names than eq names. So you were just Joel to me. =D
Joel/Brandon/John/Ray/Joe/Randi/r0z was everyone I think. :\ Honorable mention to Tony/Cathy
Archid/Modnar/Kapten/Lovista/Leothe/something/Cait. :p There was that bitch old lady druid, too, but I can't remember her name. What a worthless wench.
Funny thing is everyone resided in MI but you. :\
I don't mind it, but what I DO mind is when people call me Angela. Especially when people in the call center at my job transfer calls for a girl named Angela Harrelson to me. We have the same initials. That's IT! :yell
I don't know that I'll keep the name Verileah in the next game I play, but it's likely my new name will start with a V. I like V names for some reason :).
It's kind of interesting though...my husband, Fozzik the Beastlord, wasn't what I'd call "well known." He spent a long time unguilded, and liked to solo and keep to himself. He was surprised when he joined a new gaming community and lots of people recognized his name from EQ. So that's a reason to keep it I suppose...continuity is nice. Of course, I suppose that only really matters if you have a reputation you wish to preserve, and I don't know that I have one, good or bad.
As far as Verileah having greater meaning to me...hell, I just wanted something that sounded like a girl's name and fit with the character I created. Plus I like the word Verily :D. Alas, I was until my last day of playing addressed as "sir" "bro" or "buddy". This annoyed me, though I suppose a slight chip on my shoulder from my school days of being called William is not all that surprising or unexpected. (My real name is Billie, and I suppose I grew into it well enough. I finally forgave my mother, at least.)
Mae called me Piggy on the phone once and I blushed.
Its because I keep forgetting your name is JR. :teehee Piggy is so cute sounding! :hug
"Hi, this is Mandy, who you know as Steel. The squid popped, get your ass otm". Vulash can attest to this, hehe.
The name was originally SteelDragon in another game, SoE didn't like that though =( the "aoa" is a tribute reference to a guild in that other game, and there are several other toons who also carry it, we came to EQ as a group.
If you keep it to "Steel", which I prefer, I will answer to it if you call me.
Can really replace a name like Pigfoot either.
I remember when we had a RL guild meeting in my old guild and everyone called me Jar.
That was quite disturbing.
Most people know me by Mizen now, but I used to play Jarlaxyle.

I went to the seattle fan faire (veb ditched me :( ) but I met up with...crap, I forget his name now and...crap I forget how to spell the other guy's name but both were from Scarlet Horizon (guild we were in then). I met up with them the night before at this local pub (long story short) when I walked in, one of them said, 'YOU'RE Cait?! That was so weird lol. I can't remember if everyone called me Roz or Cait, but I'm sure I answered to both. That's where I met Vlantash who looks EXACTLY like his paladin dorf LOL.
I'm pretty sure my eq2 name will change. I might keep Rikr....if people will pronounce it as Ry-kur instead of Rick-uhr. I have another namein mind (well 2 actually that I might use...but I shant say, just in case someone else gets em first)
