I just want to know why.

That happened to us a couple xmas' ago. We come home on xmas day from visiting the parental units up north and I'm like 'wow its cold.' Turns out the heater died. =( 200 bucks and 2 hrs later, we have heat again but what a stinker.

lol -- yea, like last year we bought a different house, and first thing the heater stops, then there is a back up in the kitchen sink, then the lights on the garage stop working, the the line from the water heater to the master bath starts leaking, then we find cracks in the bottom of the fiberglass tub, now the hall bath toilet is leaking from the tank, and the thermostat on the heater still isn't working right...yea...why is that :P

I'm just waiting for something to go wrong with my car, or computer now...

ya know this happens to my mom all the time, she has been trying to save for the past few years to come over and visit us/ First its the house, next its her van after that and she finally got 2k saved it the AC goes out in the house, then my dads transmission .. now they got the garage converted to a mini apartment for my grandma and the rail chair thingie for her installed , its something else :( I hope the "bad luck" if thats what you call it stays on that side .. I dont think I can haldel any my way .. lol my bad luck so far is dislocating my knee on my birthday, followed by broke ankle on the following birthday, and then a twisted ankle the following birthday ... wait nvm.. if this continues I wont be able to celebrate many more birthdays! *screams*

Well it got even weirder. It seemed like it started working again right after I posted this. Then when I went downstairs for supper later it was freezing again. Then when I came down later to get a drink it was working again. SO the short version is, repair guy is on the way. :p

Maybe you'll luck out and it will just be the thermostat. I'm going to change ours out just as soon as we can afford to go a few days without heat...just in case it the replacement isn't as easy as I'm hoping it will be lol Funny, I have no issues with doing all kinds of electrical things around the house...but plumbing just intimidates me :P

heh...no such luck. So I turned the whole thing off last night after the last time it mysteriously turned on. Well when the repair guy came today he went out and cracked open the top of the unit. Found the heat exchangers busted wide open. Turns out it's a REALLY good thing that I turned it off last night, cause when it was running it was pumping carbon monoxide into the house. So the REALLY bad news was either replace the part for $2100 and a year warranty on them looking forward to the same thing happening again ina few years. OR...replace the whole unit for $4000 with a life time warranty on the part that broke and five years on the rest of the thing. I am SO lucky that my parents would loan us the money. ugh New unit will be here tomorrow or Saturday.
