While in KC it was about 35 - 40 degrees. I'd walk outside waiting to get on a bus somewhere with everyone and they were all shivering in their winter coats. I was, of course, quite comfortable. They'd all look at me...I'd look back...they'd yell 'DAMN YOU ALASKA'...I'd smile and mutter under my breath.

I lived in West Palm a couple of years and it always amazed me when it would drop under 60 degrees. Rich folks out in thier full furs while I would walk my dog shirtless in flip flops.

No, thank god. We have ice overs like that but not like THAT.

Certainly it does. The only thing that we don't have is an unfrozen lake nearby that will do that. All the lakes are frozen in the winter.

In addition to it being really cold there, it was blowing pretty well for the water to freeze like that. So the actual temp was quite colder than just air temp.

The coldest we've seen this winter so far is about -20 at night. It was actually quite a mild winter for the most part.

Yea, from the way the ice is shaped, it looks like there must have been a hellacious wind. I just can't get over how thick the ice is though, and on the cars it just looks so weird.

I meant to take some pictures of this winter, but that stuff happened to the trees here. Completely covered them in snow and ice. SO BEAUTIFUL. I'll have to wait till next winter...boo hoo.

We even get some really good wind going around the water here. Along the Turnagin and Knik Arm we will wind advisories of up to 60 mph, however there is no scenic walkways and such, the beach is about 10-30 down a bank, and it is sea water.
