That's your spoiler? :teehee He's in all his movies. In the Hulk he was a security guy, although his performance in Mall Rats was oscar worthy. /grin

Well I figured "start off with something relatively innocuous incase someone does something stewpid and opens the wrong thread."
Been there, done that.
Anyway, I figured I'd also get the easy one out of the way.

who else was pissed that Rogue took the cure shot?? In all three movies they have done her as a punked out, whiney, weak girl. It's disgusting! ARGH!
there were some great moments though, some classic scenes brought to life.. the opening homage to Days of Future Past. Seeing a fastball special, twice. Seeing Rogue's powers used like they should be (fight sequence w/ Piotr) When Beast said "oh my stars and garters!" Watching Kitty rise up through the floor. Callisto and Storm duking it out. Or when Bobby iced up..! And the most classic of all.. when Phoenix takes off Scott's glasses to see his eyes.
The plot... ehh. I thought the whole Wolvie / Phoenix thing felt a lot like the What If they did of if Jean had chosen Logan over Scott. The fact that Jean killed Xavier was, well.. pretty shitty. Kind of a "this is the last movie so we can kill people off and use this to establish just how bad and dangerous she is now." It didn't fit her IMO.
Speaking of not fitting and Phoenix. I think obviously they had to change her origin. But the last movie seemed to be saying that she had been becoming more powerful since the NY exposure in X1. And she flamed up at the end of X2 (even the hint of the phoenix in the water)... yet not ONCE did I see her flame up in X3!! Sure they lit the final scene to be close but it's not the same. I think the dual personality thing wasn't bad but was too much like Onslaught IMO.
Another thing that bugged me.. Did Piotr have more than 10 words spoken in the movie? I wanted to see more of HIM! And the whole Kitty / Bobby thing... I hate how they take established history older than most people making this film and just throw it out the window to fit their plot. ARGH!
I've already been thinking on how they can bring back Scott & Jean. After all with such a huge opening weekend we know there will be another film, despite what the studio says! After all there is one thing X-Men are famous for... and that's not staying dead! With Scott it's easy, we don't SEE him die and there's no body.. Storm and Wolvie find Jean and take off. They could have left him behind in the fog, no problem.
Enough of a rant now... I'll let more people speak before I go off on other things :)

I went with little expectations and I got my $6.50 worth. I enjoyed the film as did my girlfriend. I dont go to films like that one looking for a deep plot.

Ditto - and because my sole knowledge of XMen is through the movies, I find I'm a lot less disappointed than those of you who were fans before.
I agree bringing people back is a piece of cake if they want to.
I also loved "When Beast said "oh my stars and garters!"" I liked his charrie too overall.
I've never been a fan of Jean so I didn't much care that she was killed off, but I did like Scott :(
As for X4 - my whole feeling is if it weren't a thought, then why go to the trouble of keeping the professor alive...and throwing the knowledge of it at the very end, when a lot of people didn't see it?

Ok, here are my problems with the movie:
1. Mystique. Both her and Magneto are my favorite X-Men. I loved that she got quite a bit of screentime early on. So, anyway, she takes the cure dart that was intended for Magneto. I am perfectly fine with the idea that he leaves her behind, as "you are no longer one of us". What I am NOT fine with is how she sells out Magneto and snitches to the humans. Come on! I know, she had to be pissed at Magneto for leaving her behind. But she HATED humans. I cant see her being mad at him as reason enough to sell out mutants.
2. Magneto. Once he takes a cure dart himself, suddenly he looks at Phoenix and utters that pitiful "What have I done?" line. Come on! You know what you did, its who you are and have always been. Stop selling out the cause just cause you took a cure dart.
I also thought the end scene with Wolverine and Phoenix was cheese. She supposedly is so powerful she can do anything with her mind. Apparently she cant kill Wolverine, though. I had to laugh when her powers destroyed his shirt and was tearing into his flesh eating him away...but his pants were fine. Those are some tough pants right thurr!! No, I dont particularly care to see Hugh Jackman's ass, but wtf? Seriously though, I find it hard to believe she was unable to kill him. She was obviously trying like hell to kill him.
And wth happened to leech at the end? I thought he was going to be part of the way the good X-Men were going to win that last fight.
One more random thought. The X-Men, especially Storm, were so disgusted by the idea of a cure...yet they had no problem using it on other mutants when it suited them.

Hello, MultipleMan at the camp? Trap? Decoy?
Your mental chronology is off.
First he looked at Phoenix saying "see this is what they wanted with their cure" THEN Phoenix goes apeshit ballistic, THEN when Magneto sees she's wiping people into dust does he say "what have I done".
Adamantium is indestructable; she wasn't focusing enough on Wolverine and instead continuing her whirlwind of reality julienne as well as working on him. Since the adamantium protected his "innards" his ability to regenerate helped keep him alive.
Kitty got him out. Later, you see him running to Storm at the school.
The only mutant they used it on was Magneto. A lot of chess strategies (even military ones) state "go for the leader. Remove the leader, the pawns fall in line." There were only two mutants who had the class to stand up and take leadership; Mystique had a slight possibility, and Pyro may have if he wasn't such a whiny bitch. So, insta-replacement is a no-go.
Some people argue that they should have hit Jean with the cure, but there is the contention over whether the Jean personality would take control of her body or leave the powerless, insane Phoenix instead... Not to mention she would have been able to read Logan's mind and either force him to cure himself, focus more on him to actually obliterate him*, or destroy the contents of the cure.
Jean's psyche was strong enough to break through Phoenix at the critical moment to sacrifice herself.
* I remember reading once a long long time ago that Wolverine once regenerated from just a few single cells. That's gotta hurt.

I have to disagree with the trap thing since she had no idea that just that multiple man guy was going to be there. Once she went human she was out of the loop.
And yeah, he sees her wiping people out and says "What have I done?". He knew how powerful she was, he was the one that wanted to wage war on the humans. He got what he wanted.
They also used the cure on Pyro.
And if she could make Wolverine cure himself, why not just make him kill himself and stop trying to get to her?
I never read the comic books so my knowledge of X-Men is strictly limited to the films.

Where do you see this?
Pyro leans over Iceman, covering him with flame, Iceman ices up and cold cocks him. (pun intended.)

When he is cowering down on the ground, I assumed he got out the dart from wherever he had it. I would have to see the movie again, but when Iceman looks back up he reaches out at Pyro, and I swear you can see the dart sticking out of Pyro's wrist. Maybe I was seeing shit, but thats what I remember. Anyone else?

can't say I saw Pyro take a dart but I was distracted by watching Bobby ice up.
Yeah once Wolvie regenerated from a single drop of his blood that touched a massively powerful crystal (i forget exactly what the deal was with it)
Magneto realized just how insane Phoenix was when she was completely out of control, destroying everything indiscriminately. Up until then he'd deluded himself into thinking he could control her. Perhaps he could, she followed him along docile enough (another thing that anoys me) Once confronted with the truth he realized what he'd done.
Storm and the X team used the cure on Magneto... when they were hopelessly outnumbered, innocent people were in danger, and they had to choose between 'curing' him or letting him start a geno-war. The topple the king theory seems pretty valid.
With over 20 years of being a fan I have had *HIGH* hope for these movies. I certainly didn;t expect literal translations and have enjoyed the fresh take on the stories, but again how they have grossly changed some characters to suit their plots just rubs me the wrong way! Rogue has always been one of my favorites and to see such a strong, fiesty and independant, very rough and in the thick of the fight character reduced to what they did was... disgusting.

Did anyone stay until after the credits like I did? An interesting 5 seconds of footage. I never was into the X Men comics, but I actually thought this was the best so far.
