what would you think??

So I was curoius about a game like Battle field 2 and still like EQ.

In BF2 your characters are always the same. You the player gain in EXP. You have several different classes to spawn as.

I was wondering what you would think of a BF2 type of game where you could choose one of 6 or seven different EQ type of characters.

And instead of Russia VS US .. you could have races. Or even LOTR type genre.

any thougths?

I really like the instant action and the ability to leave at anytime.

I think thats called Planetside.

It's a good game (but old) that SOE does. If you're in to FPS games I'd suggest giving it a try . :)

Or come back and play EQ casually on Sleeper or Combine?

you see the thing is on Battle field everyone is prtetty much teh same. Some people who have more expierinece might have 1 or 2 more unlokc weapons but they aren't the key to playing. Skill is.

It would be like if everytime you logged onto EQ you have a level 70. And then when you die you can choose to change class.

Also encounters start and are done with in 20 - 30 mins.

Don't get me wrong I love EQ, buit I cant do BJJ and EQ both.

So you're talking about game like this.

Fantasy - you make an "avatar", but that "avatar" has nothing to do with your exact character. So say I was Vulash. I could, at any time, or after a death, change classes and play with a new "toon" and I'd just still be Vulash. So then you'd just login and play like you would for EQ/WoW except that there wouldn't be grinding of the leveling sort, and instead you'd just do adventures or raids with friends, and people could change their roles for their whims or what was needed?

If you did that you'd still have to have some sort of progression tied to your "avatar". Say a point system for items, so that when you changed classes your new "toon" got to use your "avatars" ranking or points to gear up etc. It would be the only way to reward people as I don't think a pure BF style of no rewarding would work. Wouldn't be hard really though just have tiers of generic class items and point costs and as you complete things or advance you get more points for your avatar - then you can just buy and save gear sets for each class as you upgrade so changing is still smooth.

Interesting, not sure how well it would work - but possible I guess. I'd play it, but I don't know how long it would keep my interest. Would definately make a better casual game.

I have been playing BF2 for awhile and you are right. not much variety in the characters. As you gain rank, you get weapon unlock options but again, everyone has em to. Still fun to be a chopper pilot though. =p

The thing I also like ..not to quote Krassus ...

There is a certain skill used when playing games. Just because someone is better equipped doesn;t make them better at the game. Also some people who like games can't afford to power game their life away.

I like where I can use my skill versus someone elses skill and then in 30 min - 1 hr leave. And no one is upset becasue they are dependent on me.
