Poser and Vista
okay, i've spent all the time i can handle over at the poser/efrontier forums and am going blind trying to figure this out.
i went ahead and did the preorder for poser 7. since my computer was all but dead (ask anyone trying to game with me - it was pathetic) i opted to wait til i got the new one to install this. the downside being that i didn;t have the money til after vista came out. *sigh*
so i have a shiny new computer with all the bells and whistles i can afford. after some very long phone chats with my eq2 buddy (who happens to be an IT guy in RL) we were able to get the game up and running.
so i loaded poser as my second priority. poser 6 runs beautifully.
poser 7 hates me.
now, i bought the upgrade version since i had a real copy of 6. i made sure that was intstalled and installed 7 next. it installed it in a totally different place (making it look like poser got bought?). 7 froze up trying to start anything new.
so i uninstalled everything, double checked my security settings (which vista is a pain about btw) and reinstalled everything, this time in the same file. same problem.
doesn't matter if i ask for a new "canvas" or if i try to delete the existing figure. either way i freeze up and have to go into the task manager to make it shut down. 6, btw is running. course, all my "toys" are on the old computer since vista won't acknowledge my pocket media drive i bought as backup and to transfer all that stuff. so i have next to nothing to play with anyways.
is anyone else having this problem? or have any ideas what i might possibly be doing wrong?

the guy actually asked me if i had attempted to install the media drive on another computer iwth Vista. I told him none of my friends were insane enough to voluntarily put that on their puter. the only ones who have it are like me and MoonLily who got shaghai'd into it. he laughed and said that off teh record, he had to agree with me.
i think this is the stupidest thing microsoft has ever pulled - and all things considered that's saying something.
and i though ME was a joke. this is... well it's flat out fucking stupid is what it is!!
boy that felt good to say!!
Isn't it like too advanced for what is out there right now, making it useless?
could be...i'm considering buying a new computer to run 3d software on a dual core and mantaining the one i have at the moment for internet and 2d graphics, to be able to continue my work during rendering. my purpose is to stay as far from vista as i can. so i have to buy a new one as soon as possible, pc's with vista are now flowering in italian shops...
