Borrowed book my father, called Digital Beauties. Most artists use Poser to render their models 3D. A lot of them are self-taught, but how hard is it to get the feel for it? How much effort is required?

Sigs like these really impress me, and I don't think my graphic design programme offers Poser as a course. Can anyone brief me on the basic logic behind it?

I think you render the basic model and then touch it up in photoshop...we're hoping to get a copy of it soon (Mae and I) so I'll let you know what I think of how it works once I get my greedy little hands on it :D

ROGER THAT. Actually, I think, you start off with wire models and you have dials and shit to adjust. The skin texture, clothes, hair, MAKEUP, everything needs to be added on but they're all like files you add to a main directory, so to speak. We can get the program for free, but we have to buy our shit. Actually I have a buddy who has a shit load of stuff he ganked. Gonna have to email him. In any case, its harder than it looks so I envy the patience Starry and Sunbur have.

I gets no love on the 3D front.

Not everyone does a lot of postwork on their renders. Some people are really strict about not doing postwork and rendering everything. I probably render most of the work in Poser and then postwork the hair (I abhor most Poser hair) and touch up the nasty "Poser elbow".

Hrm, sorry. I forgot to check back here. Silly me.

Nektar, it depends. And its not really 'most artists' ... persay. Well let me be exact. For people that USE poser and thats all -- well. Poser is mostly like a program where you buy and import premade models, clothes, and textures and then 'pose' them and then render them

Then you can pull them into a Post work program and do paintovers or touchups.

For the most part , 'real' 3D artists think Poser is a joke due to the fact its not really as 'art' as creating the model + textures from scratch. Me? Art is art ^^

And, Ryala, thats the new Inifinty Cove 3.0 from RDNa really fanastic backgrounds available ^^

I meant most artists from Digital Beauties. Pretty impressive book, and Poser seems to be a major backbone. Whereas Photoshop is used for touchups and such.

Oooh yeah those books, should be mostly Poser. You can create some *beautiful* things in that program without having to go through the whole modelling junk ^^
