Hero (spoiler inside)

i loved it. the "super samurai" jumping and bouncing offa water with the tip of your sword was a little over the top, but it's a movie - and they can do that sort of thing in there. :)

the dialogue was brilliant - especially the realization of the emperor at the end.

It just dawned on me! This scroll of Broken Sword's isn't about sword technique but about swordsmanship's ultimate ideal. Swordsmanship's first achievement is the unity of man and sword. Once this unity is attained, even a blade of grass can be a weapon. The second achievement is when the sword exists in one's heart when absent from one's hand. One can strike an enemy at 100 paces, even with bare hands. Swordsmanship's ultimate achievement is the absence of the sword in both hand and heart. The swordsman is at peace with the rest of the world. He vows not to kill and to bring peace to mankind.

Actually "Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon" is a lot more movie than "Hero" - more story, more character building, more unfolding plots. If that bored you, you probably won't like "Hero", unless you change your expectation. I enjoyed "Hero". It's a piece of artwork, a philosophical debate, and perhaps a bit of a mystery. On the last part, I wish the movie would go deeper into the personal histories of the Heroes and provide a much richer background, instead of spending all that time drawing pretty pictures.

Yes. I love the monologues and the dialogues of the movie. I think the transcript would be very fun to read.

Oh yeah, I cried like a baby watching it.
