"It feels really good," Jamison said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "It's a good accomplishment. I probably won't ever kill anything else that big."

I'm disturbed.

I think I would be more disturbed if that thing were running around where I lived, omg lol, Id shoot it *grin*

[He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.

I think this is more disturbing.. I wont even shoot a 50 cal, those things kick! though.. that kid is most likely bigger than I am, most of my son's friends are lol.

Jesus H Christ - what fucking lost planet did that pig come from? Did I miss the Hog mothership land in fucking Mississippi?

omg. that things was frickin' huge!!!

ya know, as scary as the thought of an 11yo running around with a gun is, i'd be willing to bet that (unlike most kids that age... or even a bit older) he's probably vary respectful of it and what it can do. i somehow doubt he's the kind that's gonna take it to school and show it off.

I was taught to handle a gun at the age of 7, as were my siblings, my moms a military brat and her dad was a hunter, as is my father.. I enjoy shooting, though I dont plan on ever hurting anyone or anything so long as its not trying to hurt me first!

That pig though.. If I saw a pig the size of a small elephant coming toward me id be sorely tempted!

That is kind of sad to me really. Something jaw dropingly unusual and these people's first thought is "Lets kill it". I wonder if it would have gotten bigger if allowed to live for another year or six. I wonder if it was a one of a kind and now, its dead.

Sad.

if it was one of a kind there wouldnt have been another three years ago. Those people went out to go hunting, and if miss is anything like Az they would have had to get permits and licences and would have been assigned to the area they were going to be hunting in, you cant just go out and shoot what you feel like, unless its you r own property.

Any bigger and we would've been worshiping it, building idols in its image. I honestly did not know they got that big. I mean...what the hell did it eat?

Good gods ..... that thing is hugeamongous~!
Lol Roz, Kinda agree with Cali tho =( Then again I am not the hunter meat eating type , but something that bit I would trying to get mor einfo on rather then shooting it up , poor piggy :(

That boy needed to be encouraged and taught discipline. He chased it for 3 hours before it finally laid there, no doubt bleeding to death and immobile enough for him to put one right between the eyes (fixable by taxidermy). This boy must be heralded for the hunter he is.

And someone needs to grab the movie rights to the psycho he will undoubtedly grow up to be. I'm just kidding. O_o

Yeah it would've been neat to see how big it could've gotten but it doesn't look like the area supports animal rights. It was on an enclosed hunting ... place thing. Next time the animals should spend the extra 50k and move into a nicer neighborhood.

hehe.. like the zoo?

Apparently feral hogs, whether they be Winnebago-sized or just normal-sized, are becoming quite a problem in the south-southwest. Their numbers are growing rapidly, and they're spreading. So one day we may be smearing on swine repellent and turning on Hog Zappers before having an evening cookout.
Lessa 18 years ago
*nod* they designate specific areas for hunting, and in those specific areas they only allow so many tickets.. tickets = kills. That way you cant deplete the population, and it helps to keep the animal population from growing too much.. If it grows too big the animals may not have enough food, and can spread disease and things if they become unhealthy. The other pigs in his neighborhood were prolly glad to see him go I imagine :p
FyreGarnett 18 years ago
there are alot of areas with controlled hunting like that. keeps the herds healthy and they tend to be very specific about what you can/cannot kill. as time goes on, there will be less and less land for wild animals to live on, which is sad.
Vex 18 years ago
from what i've heard, pigs can grow indefinitely in size, and if left in the wild for only a week, they'll turn feral and grow tusks and shit.

its kinda weird.

I am not a fan of hunting, though I do understand it.

I think, though, if I was faced with something that big, I would have run creaming until I passed out from lack of oxygen and sheer terror.

Ok really, let's think about this now. It weighed one THOUSAND pounds. How fast is it gonna run? I could stop and have a milkshake, tie my shoe, poop and still get away.
FyreGarnett 18 years ago
i think i[d be more concerned about how fast it could stop. i mean, that's some serious momentum going on!!!
