Mirrors Revisited
Ok so I did this just to see what kind of improvements I have made in the last year or so. CC 5more than welcome, but will most likely be for future reference since this was just sort of an exercise for me.

That's gorgeous! I just don't understand how people can do mirrors in a posing program like this. It's really beautiful! Everything about it is just...wow! Great job!

While I love the second picture, and see a remarkable improvement over the previous one, the body in the second picture is less smooth, and I think it detracts from the overall picture. It may just be the way the picture is sized on my screen, but the previous one doesn't show ragged edges.
PS - I just copied the second pic into my graphics program and opened it up...it looks fine. I guess it is the resizing on my computer :S

The forum tends to squish anything that's gonna stretch the forums. I don't know a workaround in IE, but in Firefox, just right click the image, and click View Image.
And I already told you, you've come a long way baby ;)

Thanks Eve - I just recently started using Firefox again, and wasn't aware it could be done so easily :)

I really like the original one. Its simple, but its powerful. I really love the lighting that is coming from between her and the mirror. It is not an obvious placement, but it works really, really well. I also love that she is reflected from the floor as well as the mirror.
Although the second piece is also lovely, to me it loses the simplicity of what you have achieved.

I think the second version is much better - definitely a better control on the lighting, shadows and flow of her fabric. It's a little more complicated yeah so I guess you could say it lost the simplicity - but I don't think that's a bad thing at all. Shows more skill in the 2nd.

Oh for sure. I was just stating a personal preference for the original piece not a judgement on the amount or quality of work involved. I guess it came out wrong.

Hehe most of my old stuff I look at now and I'm like I did that how long ago? Especially since I feel like I have barely started to learn all of this 3d stuff.

I have to be honest here and say the original image doesn't really grab me. Yes, it's nice, but when I look at it the first thing that comes to mind are a few things I would change about it.
The newer image, to me, really has that "wow" factor. When I look at it, the first thing that comes to mind is that I start examining it more closely so I can learn from it. So no disrespect to the original image, but in my view the new one is worlds better.
