I found a posable chain for 25 dollars on Renderosity hehe, forget that.. Will keep looking, but I think I can talk the girl out of it if I cant find something that will work.

just parent the ball to the end of a chain.

check freebies, there's freebie chains. if need be, parent 2-3 chains together

yeah I got those 25 buck ajax chains too hehe they are nice .. There are a few chains in the RMP freebie section. I would just use the ajazmorning stars or something or spoend the extra time parenting cones on a spear for the ball then parent it on the chains

pfft, for 25 dollars I could buy two characters from Vamp! Ill pass on those chains and see what I can do with what ive got so far lol. :p
