I know I should know this but..

what do you do in photoshop to get rid of the white pixely outline?

Ive prolly seen it poste somewhere like once a week and I never pay attention since I use a black background in most of my renders..But, I was dumb this time and forgot to switch it, dont feel like redoing it all since this was s'posed to be a quickie..Ive searched sporadically through the site, and used the search tool but cant seem to find it, sorry :(

Something about matting? I'm sure I read it somewhere.

layer > matte > defringe

or remove white matte/black matte. depends what you're working with.

If you rendered it in Poser and saved it as a TIFF or Photoshop file, you can go to the Selection menu of Photoshop and Load Selection. Choose the Alpha, and it'll automatically select just your model, without the background (assuming you rendered it that way, without stuff back there). Is that what you meant?

Otherwise, you gotta cut out the part you want with the magic wand, by painting a mask, using the magnetic selection tool, or whatever works for you to get the outline right. :)

Thanks vex, thats what I wanted :hug

I think PsP can do the same thing but never tried it before..

or if you render as a .png it comes already transparent ... ;)

I do render as PNG images, but it has the little pixely white outline that bugs me hehe. Normally I would just rerender the image with a black background, but didnt want to spend the time on it.

Think Vex was poking fun at Janthin. ;)

And yea I have that issue... Usually I render over a background color similar to that of what my background is going to be. If I plan to have her in a dark foresty area, then I will render her over a darker color, if she's gonna be on a light blue sky, I render her over a light blue. That way what ever little bit is left will match or blend with the background... When you remove the matting, it sometimes leaves it too dark or too light... And leaves it kinda pixel-y in some cases.

I think im gonna have to go back into rerender it anyway cause her armor ( red) has some odd.. i dont know whats wrong with it but its weird and I dont like it.. and postworking it away wont look as good as making it again.

So when I do Ill just fix the background color.

RDNA has some great goth / iron /rusted metal materials in the freebies

her armor needs some metal pits in it, and i think those textures would help a lot.
Lessa 18 years ago
Ill take a look at those, part thats bugging me is the right side of her armor, over her breast and the belt thing.. its flat and its not supposed to be.. Im not sure what that is..

What color do you render over? I usually use grey, so when it takes white matting off it leaves it black... and when I take black matting off, it leaves a little white... =/ Maybe I should render over black or white?

Sabby, what version of Poser are you using?
Sabby 18 years ago
Still 6 cause I am scared to move on! =/
Eve 18 years ago
Okay well in 6 you shouldn't need to be defringing anything either. I always saved as a psd file, and then just opened the channels up for an alpha selection somehow. Been a while. To get the same effect with 7, you have to Render over Black, and save it as a png and you'll get a clear background that way. I wrote it up before for 6, so maybe I can find that for ya to tell you exactly how. My p6 is borked atm unfortunately :(
Sabby 18 years ago
I am currently installing P7 and moving my runtime stuff over... =/ Gonna take the leap.
Eve 18 years ago
Do yourself a big favor, and install your runtime to an external if you have one, or a separate directory on your machine. I'm still trying to get everything reinstalled/sorted after I totally hosed up upgrading from 6 to 7. My 6 is corrupt and I refuse to install anything to 7 unless absolutely required like V4 is now. So the only thing I have in 7 is her and anything that came with it. Once I get my new runtime finished, I plan on uninstalling 6 and reinstalling it so I can fall back on it for some things if I need to ;)

i still have to remove matt using p6 all the time no matter what I rendered over.. I still have to sometimes with P7 but not often :)

Well you're all fucked up in general, so yeah :p *runs for cover*
