Is it 3D Art...Art?
I have a friend who has never used anything except a pencil to draw with--though, she has started drawing with that tablet thing in Photoshop. She does not like 3D art, saying it is not truly art because it does not come from my imagination. She says that I don't draw the people, I just put them down, change their look, and move their bodies how I want. I've tried to tell her that it is just a faster way of doing art, and it is also good for people like me who can't draw a straight line with a ruler.
But my question is, is it art or is it just manipulation? She considers manipulation art because the people who photomanipulate take their own pictures, but she says Poser is cheap and cheating. Is she right?
Just a question for discussion.
/huggles Roz cos she is so silly.
anyways.
much of what you people call talent is actually just knowledge and the skill derived from such knowledge.
be inquisitive. tinker with everything. if you can't figure it out, search for the answer, and if that fails, then ask.
poser doesn't require some super talent to use. it requires patience to learn the way things work.
postwork that fits the image requires talent, but if you learn enough about poser, you can slide with minimal postwork.
So your friend dosent think phtography is an artform then? .... I mean hello WTF do you think photographers do .. duh.
Anyways ~!
What is art?
"the use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be shared with others" (Britannica Online)
The way I view it is . lets take for example these forums. The images and codes is a form of art. The monitor you're staring at, the desk you have it setting on. Buildings, cars, ballett, dance, streets etc. all art in one way or another. I don't believe art is only restricted to canvas or clay but is a part of everyday life. Hell even your cereal box is art. Someone took their abilities that they have and put them to use, then shared with the world.
It is up to us to decided which we perfer vs the other, what I like someone else may hate but it dosen't make it any less of a piece of art then those above.
