Plate Armour

I've been looking for ages for a nice set of platemail so I can do a render of my ShadowKnight. She is a dark elf so I was trying to get it for V4 cos I already have dark elf textures for V4.

I finally found one I like, but! its for V3, and is for Poser. http://www.xurge3d.com/inc/sdetail/2512
I only have DAZ cos I don't have the money to fork out for Poser. I could use it on V3, but then I gotta find dark elf skin for V3 lol.
Any one know a similar looking armour for V4 that works in DAZ?

all of the xurge armors work fine in daz hun , he has one or two for v4 as well, though none quite like that. I think thats the only plate armor out atm though for her. some nice textures are available for it at renderosity now.

Edit:: here are some textures for dark elves for sale ar poser pros hun, I use the shadow brood ones for v3 fairly often. http://poserpros.daz3d.com/store/search.php

Thanks Lessa :) I am just wary of spending money on stuff that wont work for me. Hmm, if I get that I can finally do one for Tajer too...

http://www.andi3d.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=237 There's also Andi's armor for v4, along with some add on's at Rosity for it as well. Since you said it would be for an SK, the helm would look pretty cool for a darkie I think ;)

I like that armor set very much; ran it thru CrossDresser so it would fit V4 and came up with this for a friend's shadowknight:

Sitasha

As for the Daz part of it I can't help ya :) Poser is all I know, and I think all I have room in my brain for.

When I first bought the license for V4, I thought it was a waste of $10. But they recently upgraded the program, and I'm pretty impressed with it at this point :D

OK, I know it's derailing, but I was looking through your gallery on DA lol. How do you recolour the stuff? Like that Sorceress armor etc?

I know how to change the colour through Tab, surfaces etc in DAZ, but you look like you've changed the pattern/yexture on it too lol.

you can purchase different textures.. I know Out of Touch and motif have some nice textures for the xurge armors..

Aye, I bought textures for it, but how do you make your own? Or say you like those textures but want a different colour? If I wanted bright pink armor with say, electric blue detailing on it?

You're either going to have to take the template into Photo Shop or whatever you use and make your own texture, or tweak an existing one to suit your needs either before you render or in post work.

Jet I also wanted to say since no one had pointed it out that there is the V4-V3 figure if you wanted the face and skin options of V4 with V3 clothes. Admittedly you dont have the body shape control and are stuck with close to a V3 body but with some x-y-z dials you can plump up the tits, butt and hips while narrowing the waist to give her a different look. Plus you can manually use the body morph dials of the clothes for some shape. Large things like plate armor are nice because if the body under it is a bit smaller it won;t be as noticable as like a dress or shirt would be.

I tried the V4 to V3 thing and it just confused me lol. Maybe I will try again.

This template thing, I can find it in my files aye? Or do I need to get a template from the creator? Gawd, I am such a newb lol...

Actually what I usually do if I want a different color (a la Sabby & Vex) is just find the texture in the textures folder, and load it up on Photoshop, and recolor it there, and save it with a new name to a folder I created for myself (I keep it in the "Poser 6" folder so I know where it is); then I go back to Poser, into the material room, and while in there, click on the picture of the texture, and find the changed texture and use that instead. I had NO idea how to do it until Sabby held my hand and used REALLY small words to explain. Finally I figured it out, and it's FUN :)

That one on Sitasha tho, that's a texture I purchased. I don't believe I recolored that one at all.

Woah that sounds complicated. I dont have Poser either so dunno what a material room is but I think I'll leave that colouring business alone for a bit lol. Thanks though :)

You don't need poser, can do the same thing in the surface tab of D|S. All you're doing basically, is recoloring a jpg in PS, saving it with a new name, then opening the surface tab and replacing the original texture image with your new recolored one. Easy peasy ;)
