Breaking News
This happened just a little while ago. Anyone in the DFW area probably heard about it. It ended right outside our office windows. I'll post phone pics later. heh.

We had a chase here a few days agoand two of our local news helicoptors collided
both pilots and cameramen died.

That's pretty sad that two helicopters weren't watching where they were going and crashed like that. They had the ENTIRE SKY. I don't get it.

there were actually five helicoptors circling the guy, 4 news channels and one police, not sure why or how they managed to get that close to each other though.

I heard about that.

Okay I might need to put on my specs (I read the headline as high speed chess...) but is that man bleeding from the head?

this is kinda sad, so you may not want to watch, along with the other links, the pilot is crying in this because all of the pilots know each other pretty well and he doesnt know which of his friends were involved.
it was live on tv before they realized what was going on and started to cut back to the studios

this morning our fox tv helicoptor crashed, due to a loss of power. One is in the hospital. the pilot and traffic guy walked away. Freaky how many coptors going down lately.

Back to the first chase.. I think this is the one where the guy was racing trying to get his dying cat to the vet and didn't want to stop and try to explain to police because he knew it would take so long the cat would die for certain..? If so then I'm *SO* with him. If one of my babies was needing medical care the rest of the world can go to hell for all I care, nothing will make me stop. Stupid cops, if it had been a child they wouldn't have blinked and would have given him a full escort.. but an animal, well too f'ing bad. *snarls*

He ran lights, started a police chase, caused the crash of two helicopters...for a cat? A cat. I have pets but...a cat? You can't be serious. Really? A cat? Those people died, he caused all that damage...for a cat? Maybe if the cat were president - which I certainly would have voted for him - or I dont know - made of diamonds or gold, I'd understand but his actions caused the death of two people. That's never justified.

Dittos what ROz said.
I'm not putting down people who love their pets, but don't you dare equate them to children.

I agree with what Roz said about endangering the lives of others for one life, but I disagree with the follow-up comment that pets do not equal children. Just because a person does not have that level of empathy with their own pets does not mean they get to tell other people they can't feel as strongly about pets as they do with children. =/

I think she means this chase
http://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail?contentId=3922600&version=11&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=1.1.1
the first chase posted here, but yeah still I have to agree with the above, cant be risking the lives of families and other people for the sake of a sick or injured cat, there are mobile vets and clinics you can call, and if its not gonna make it a normal speed drive to the nearest vet theres prolly not alot they could have done to help anyway

FOX 4 News reported that the feline was deceased and likely had been for some time.

Ok wait - are the two related? Did the helicopter crash happen during that car chase or ANOTHER car chase?

A. Two coptors collided the day before this event. (different state)
B. DFW coptor crashed (unrelated to the crazy cat guy)
C. Crazy Cat guy (same day as B)

And now that you're a mom, can you honestly say if you had to choose, you'd choose your cats?

Whew ok - at least the crazy cat guy didn't cause the death of those helicopter pilots. Still, breaking the law for an animal that appears to have been dead for some time is still socially irresponsible.

Ok -- perhaps I did not state my opinion in a politically correct fashion, so I will alter it.
I shouldn't have said...'I'm not putting down people who love their pets, but don't you dare equate them to children...'
I should have said, I think anyone who would place more value on an animal, over a human being, is nuts.
