Need help - dog issues

I've never had a dog before and since Veb still lives 5 hrs away, he hasn't seen this yet to tell me, but WTF is this on my dog's nose? I called the vet and they said 'spend money and then ask' basically, so before I spend money I dont have (gotta pay for my drugs yo), can someone with a dog tell me if this is like cancer or some shit?

Well here's the history of it. It started to peel slightly, no blood. Then she did get into a scuffle with a german shepard down the street (she didnt win) and it had this teeny tiny little scratch. Well its been like 3 weeks and the part where its peeling is getting bigger and now there's more blood veins, but she hasn't fought with the dog recently.

The vet could only tell me it might be: a fungus, a bite or frostbite. She doesn't go out for very long when I let her out. Maybe 5 mins at the most. She does tend to eat a lot of snow, which prompted me to give her ice cold water. Primadonna. But other than that, it seems to be getting worse. =/

It may be infected from teh other dog's saliva or something, she may need antibiotics. If you can give me a night (tongiht) I can tell you for sure, my mom used to raise dogs and knows a lot about them, and she could probably tell me something, if anything at all.

Edit, also the pic is a lil blurry, is it just a scratch, is it bleeding any? or oozing? how big approx and is there any bumps?

I know 20 questions lol, but this way I can be more specific to my mom, if you want me to ask her.

Its like a sliver across her nose. It has like blood veins but not bleeding or oozing, no. She doesn't seem bothered by it all. But its about...hmm, a centimeter i guess wide. Not very big at all. No real bumps that i can see, other than from her nose.

So far general opinion is its from the fight she had that hasn't healed because she burrows. Please do ask your mom though, I dont want to let it go and have it really hurt her. =/

Sounds like its likelyinfected from teh fight, depending on what that dog might have been carrying. Ill ask her tonight. Doesnt sound real serious tho. Although infections can spread and get lots worse.

I'll have to agree with the general opinion. Maybe got infected in fight, and not gettinga chance to heal. I know this sounds stupid, but have you tried putting a simple antibacterial ointment on it, like Neosporin (sp?)

I thought about it but no I haven't tried it. I'm afraid it'll just make it stay gooshy and soft. =/ I'd like to hear what Nalla's ma has to say but the neosporin is my next idea. =) thanks all!

Sry mae, i forgot my mom went to Alabama yesterday, shes back tonight but too late to call. I will be calling her tomorrow if you still want me to ask. =/ Im sry I had forgotten about that.

We tried neosporin but someone said it looked like mange =( If you get a chance to ask, that would be great =)

If it were the mange id bet it had spread over the entire dog by now and hed be half hairless or bald and half dead if its been more than a week or two. Mange takes over a dog fast (at least it did ours) and makes them look awful in no time. Spreads to any other animals you have very fast as well. So if you had any other animals they'd have it too. Plus hed had to have come in contact with another animal with it as well to get it. Which I guess is always possible. Yeah Ill ask her tomorrow :) sry taking so long! <3 Im sure its nothing.

I showed the picture to my Mike, Roz and he said it was nothing. I've never had a dog either...but he's had many over the years. He told me to tell you not to worry.

sry it took me so long MAe, I got a horrible virus yesterday and thought I was gonna die every time I had to get up off the couch...

I talked to my mom she said 1) if it was oozing or bleeding then somehting was wrong. She said even if it wasnt it might help it heal if you kept the dog inside as much as possible and kept ointment on it for a bout a week.

2) Small concern, but if you arent for sure that the scratch was there when the dog got into the fight, she said sometimes dogs and cats got boo boo's (yes I just said that hehe kids /roll eyes) that wouldnt heal and when they got it checked out it was cancer.

If it doesnt heal soon, like a week or so, and its been there for 2 or 3 weeks, Id get it seen about. Just in case. The peelin isnt anything btw , she said lots of dogs do that.

Ssoulz /bonk Yeah her nose is looking better already, we used the neosporin a bit, well what she didnt lick off (GROSS). We saw her twice yesterday neck deep in snow digging for her life though, then she popped up and had snow ALL over her face. Mike and I were like, 'that would be why her nose is like that'.
