YARWDN: Escape To Witch Mountain

Yet Another Remake We Don't Need

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/070829f.php

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is in negotiations to headline Walt Disney Pictures' modern re-imagining of the classic 1975 adventure movie "Escape to Witch Mountain."

The story follows a pair of siblings, endowed with paranormal powers, who go on the run from a diabolical group of men who wish to exploit their abilities.

Johnson will play a Las Vegas cab driver who is in for the ride of his life when he picks up the duo. Matt Lopez wrote the current 'Witch' draft, whilst Andy Fickman is on board to direct. A March 2008 start-of-filming is planned.

The Rock has kinda grown on me as an actor.
But seriously. Another Witch Mountain remake? *sigh*

There are SO many other things that could be remade or heck movie-ated period.

The Last Starfighter kicked massive ass - that's when they finally went beyond the Witch Mountain cheesy effects shit. Don't get me wrong, seeing special effects like a cat's collar light up when it uses its powers is STUNNING cgi, but The LS finally stepped into its own and jumped on the Star Wars band wagon full throttle. I absolutely loved that movie.

That movie owned.

As far as this film goes I am happy to see the Rock is continuing to do a variety of films to keep himself from being type casted. I'm a fan of his and thought he was fucking hilariously in the movie Be Cool.
