Newer stuff
I bought Sabiha and Kaico lately, and when I open them in DAZ, they are all shiny, like almost metallic it's weird. Is it supposed to be like that or is it cos I need to download the newer version of DAZ lol.
Or better yet, get my finger out and learn Poser 7 thats gathering dust on my hard drive.
I wouldn't mind so much except that its slightly off putting when thinking of colours and stuff, but it also renders with bright spots where the shiniest bits are. This is without using any lighting at all yet.

Yeah the skin looks shiny in preview before you render it. Did it render that way?

Sabiha doesnt have DS Mats yet ( i'm working on them )
Kaico has DS MAts - you need to download the zip from your account page and extract to your DAZ\studio folder

As Vex said (and I went to D|S to check this out - if you didn't download the D|S mats and are using the Poser ones - You will get very very shiny looking characters and get bright shiny spots after rendering. Try installing or reinstalling the daz mats.

I"ve used both Sabiha and Kaico in Poser (6) and while pre-render they look like tinfoil, after rendering they've looked just fine. I can't imagine why they'd show up shiny for you in Poser... course I don't know much about that stuff anyway :)

Havent tried Poser yet, I installed it then couldn't figure out how to make the DAZ files work in it lol. So I left it for now til I have the time to learn it. I mean, it took me 3 months to make one render in DAZ the first time....

daz files do not work in poser at all, they don't even show up. you will have to use the Poser mats located in poses\!vamp - sabiha

So how can you use V4 and stuff in Poser? And other stuff bought from DAZ that people have used in Poser? Blegh, I am confused now

You should be able to access either runtime from either program.
In poser you can go to your Daz runtime, and in Daz you can access your Poser runtime.
But like Vex says, if installed Kaico to Poser runtime, you'd have to install her mats to your Daz/Studio folder.
My Kiaco stuff was in Studio -> Content -> People -> Victoria 4 -> Kaico (granted I think I put her in the wrong folder :p) but either way it was pretty easy to find the Daz mats. Once I applied the Daz mats she didn't look shiny at all in D|S.

daz files = .ds
.ds files are "daz script" files.
DS Mats.zip are '.ds' files
viewable only in DAZ
.pz2 = poser files
viewable in DAZ and Poser.
Installing a product
--- DAZ|STUDIO ONLY USERS:
VAMP-*.zip: unzip to program files\daz\studio\
*_DSMats.zip: unzip to program files\daz\studio\
--- POSER & D|S USERS:
VAMP-*.zip: unzip to program files\e-frontier\poser 7\
*_DSMats.zip: unzip to program files\daz\studio\
In order to access a character from DAZ|Studio, you MUST set up a directory link to a runtime.
DAZ|Studio comes with its own runtime folder structure and all "poser" zips should be unzipped to "DAZ\Studio\Content" To do this, go to edit > preferences > directories tab.
From the dropdown, select "Poser Content Directories"
Click Add... and navigate to ***"C:\Program Files\DAZ\Studio\content" and add it, Apply > Accept.

OR you can have what I have... about a gazzillion folders/runtimes that are a complete mess but somehow I can find everything ok so I don't fix it, even though its a poser sin. Eve and Roz and Adi would DIE if they had my runtime(s).

i just dl everything into studio, then unzip it into content. prolly bad, but most of the files go where theyre supposed to, then they just need to be sorted into my customized files afterward..

Lol, same, my files are a mess but I know where it all is so.... well except these DS mats which I seem to have put in wrong place again, but I'll sort it eventually lol

I don't use and never have used Daz, but yeah my poser runtime is all sub sectioned out - otherwise it would be horrific. =x
