First of all, I have to apologize for posting this so late in the day. I won't make excuses, except to say I had the best of intentions and that that RL interfered unexpectedly.
I hope that I was able to capture at least part of the essense of this wonderful and complex woman. I hope you don't mind that I didn't base this image purely on the description you posted, but more on my own impression of her from the book. As I did with the f'n fairies exchange, I went through several iterations and attempts to capture what I had in mind. I ended up attempting a night scene because I cannot forget the description of the evening of the day when Sophie Mol arrived, the evening she first met secretly with Velutha. In any case, if this doesn't capture what you had envisioned, please let me know and I'll gladly take another stab at it.
I also want to thank you, and thank whatever lucky turn it was that I was assigned this image, for the fact that it led me to read such a fascinating and memorable book. The novel, and the character of Ammu in particular, have really stayed with me. Again, I hope I did her justice.
