Katjyia Ne`Chereshkova WIP

Something else just for me...

This will be for my Main on EQ1, Katjyia, 78 Human mage, Luclin server

While I am thinking about it...anything I post here is open for consrtuctive criticisms...especially in the lighting area...I still have a lot of trouble with those...most first posts of wip stuff has just the lights I use to be able to easily see everything well when I am posing though...and later posts will usually have the lighting that I am working on setting up for the actual finished version...
I want to learn...so if you have anything that you think will help...feel free to say so, please...

Updated the hand pose...I think it looks much better...and now my stepdaughter thinks I am nuts..because I made her stand here with her hand out "casting a spelll" for about 20 minutes while I futzed with this pic...lol...need to go back now and move it back as close to original camera positioning as I can...her chin is hidden ...pfft...cc on hand pose is very much appreciated and wanted

I have to say I really enjoy the facial morphs you do. I notice each time I look at your work how strong they are. You obviously spend alot of time making them individual. I can't offer any advice in the lighting department, or atleast any adivce that is has a helpful fix attached to it :) The only thing that really stands out to me is her hand. As a strong focal point of your character it should be spot on anatomy wise. I've been sitting here trying to recreate that position with my own hand and I can't. Her index finger especially looks broken.

Her eyes are gorgeous and I love the entence expression she's wearing. Can't wait to see where you take this piece.

my advice is just work on getting your shadows right, not just lights :)

I dont always turn shadows on for all lights I use, and sometimes the lighting will take me longer to do than the posing and scene set up, just cause it can be so finicky.

you want to have a shadow on for at least one light.. usually the brightest light (s). And (particularily in a big scene) you might want to have other lights with a lower intensity to fill in the shadows so they arent too dark ( unless you want it dark) they dont necessarily need shadows. Play with color, lights arent always pure white or any other pure color, I usually use muted shades of different colors, depending on the mood I want. Ive noticed that if I only use directional lights for a picture ( In Daz) the image ends up looking kinda grainy,( like my rayshaann picture), using a spotlight fixes that.. im just too lazy to go back and fix that one.

thats my newb lighting advice, most of it learned after many mistakes and awesome critiques from the girls here :)

Lighting is always my bane and can take longer than the rest of the pic combined. It's mostly trial and error for me. As for her hand, I agree with Lunna. I'm double jointed and I can't even make my finger do like that index finger is posed. Other than that, lookin' good so far :D

the index finger is part of the hand pose that i didn't tweak yet...and I agree...i tried to do that with my hand too...it no worky...lol...the bottom closest to the hand should not be bent that far back, and the top and middle part of the finger are too bent upwards
so am prolly gonna mess with that today
And yes, i do try to make them all individualized...the facial morphs that is...that is what I have the most fun working on in 3d...I usually use a screenie ref for any EQ characters I do and also try to incorporate whatever impression I have of that persons character/personality from how they talk and play and stuff in game too into the face....so far, all the EQ characters I have done have been for people that I actually group with a lot in game...so that helps
I am not quite sure exactly what I am going to do with her as far as setting/background stuff so far...but I think I am probabyl going to have some type of fire spell effect coming from her hand....maybe a fireball with flames licking along her fingers as well if I can manage to pull it off...since most of the direct damage mage spells in game seem to be fire based...that idea kinda of jumped at me when I got done and really looked at her...
And thank you for the compliment on the face moprhs , it means a lot to me....I have seen a lot of the work you all do and so means a lot ...I really admire and enjoy seeing anything you all post....

Yeah...I couldn't get my daughter to do that if my life depended on it...but my stepdaughter is very artsy too and interested in 3d as well...she's been pokin around in poser some too...been trying to get her to make something n save it...but she says "eww, but my stuff looks like crap:....so I showed her some of the very first things I did in poser...she laughed...lol...

Spot on that hand pose now ;) Definitely try and get that original camera angle back tho. Right now too much of that sleeve is showing and it only emphasizes that it's hiding her behind it I think.

Having a willing model is always a win! The hand pose looks much better! Can't wait to see the final positioning and effects now!
