Where the heck has Jawnee been?

Hello everyone! Jawnee here writing a LONG OVERDUE update from the South Pacific. As some of you may recall back in July of 2007 my wife and I were married. Then less than a month later we sold everything we owned, jumped on a plane and moved to New Zealand! Yes we are insane... but life down under has been wonderful even if I can hardly keep up with the days flying by.

So what am I doing these days? First and foremost I'm REALLY trying to focus on improving my artistic abilities... so much so that I'm not working a full time job for the first time since college graduation. I do some part time programming for a friend of mine and I'm looking for a second part time job for a little extra cash but mostly I practice a lot in Photoshop and look for contract art jobs anywhere I can find them. So far the work has been patchy at best, but it can only get better so I'm sticking to my guns and staying with it.

We've done a lot of exploring so far here in New Zealand, and everywhere we look the country is BEAUTIFUL. So far we've been to Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, Wellington, Queenstown, and lots of little cities in between. The greatest part of all is that we've BARELY scratched the surface when it comes to things to do here so we'll definitely have TONS of options to keep us busy over the next year and a half. At that point we may come home to the states, or we may stay another year, or we might go tour a bit of Europe or Asia for a while. We honestly have no idea.

Below are a couple of links detailing our adventures. Thi first one is a link to my picasa picture album. Here you'll find several pictures from various adventures we've taken here in kiwi land.

The following link will take you to movie clips I've thrown together on my Mac using footage from a couple of our favorite New Zealand trips. One is a World of Warcraft movie I made while exploring iMovie and all it's functionality.

Last but not least here is a picture of some recent work I've done. So recent in fact I JUST finished the female a few minutes ago. These aren't paid jobs, just images I did for my new website launch later this spring. My style is in a bit of flux at the moment as I tinker and toy with new coloring methods so I'm not sure what I'll think of these 2-3 months from now but I like the way they turned out at the moment.

And thats it for now. Hopefully I can stop being such an internet ghost in the near future but right now I just can't seem to find the time to be online much! Cheers to each and every one of you. I hope you had a very happy holiday season and fantastic new year. My motto for this year: 2008 - Gonna be great!
