That's awesome, Ryala! What do you think of online classes, so far?
I'm starting with the Web Design diploma, and then maybe my AS or BS later on. All the credits transfer. Which program are you in?

I'm doing the Graphic Design AS for now.
The class I'm in is pretty decent and fast paced. The only part that bugs me is the participation requirement because...well, I don't have much to say to anyone else in my class nor do I really care to. If I understand the lecture, I'm ready to move on not talk about it. That's just me though.

I went to the Art Institute of Dallas. It got me nowhere. $27k for 2 years down the toilet. It was a rush the groups through as quickly as possible, and collect the money type of operation. Was my biggest mistake, at least between the years of 1994-1996 :(
Sorry to be so negative about the Art Institutes International. Some examples of my problems there:
Promised industry professionals were the instructors there. MOST of my instructors were students that had just taken the classes 2 quarters prior.
Hell I even helped the instructor in Auto CAD help students. I didn't even get a paycheck.
Computers broken. Had to schedule lab time, and not enough computers to do rendering. People were SOL there.
Dat machines broken. Couldn't even copy your frames back to DAT.
Not enough time on instruction :-?
All of this was going on even at the time to put portfolio's together. No extensions....we were just screwed. I had to stay at school from 8AM until Midnight at minimum 4 days out of the week, just to squeeze in for my scheduled time, that I didnt get, because of broken computers.
My time there was so bad, that the class I went through the program with considered suing the AI. We found that they had been sued before, and in the end decided to just drop it and take the loss.
Don't get me wrong I did learn a few things there, but not $27k worth, that's for sure. Granted this was around 10 years ago. I'm not familiar with their online program, I'm sure it is better then having to actually go to a campus. I hope you guys get something out of the Art Institutes that I didn't.
I appologize for the negative post.

I haven't heard great things about the AI of Dallas, but I've been pretty happy with AIO so far. My instructors are also professors at campus-based universities around the country and I use my own gear so I know it's :thumbsup
Sorry you had a bad experience, Rikr. That's bound to happen pretty much anywhere though. I can tell you I was pretty disgusted with some of the professors at my previous university and I know for sure they had to have a doctorate to teach there.

My highschool teacher taught me ib 4 years more than any art instructor Ive ever met in my life. Ive talked to and been under 3 others, and Ive already learned what they tried to teach. I seriously wish I could get back in touch with my retired high school art teacher, omg, he was the bomb. Perverted old fart too.
