Flying with kiddo

I'll be flying with Alison at the end of July. If have any tips, I'm open to them. I'll be by myself with her. I shelled out the extra cashola for her own seat. I'll be packing some new toys, changes of clothes, diapers, and such in her carry on.

Any other tips?

bring your car seat/carrier with you if shes still in one to the gate... if the plane is full you can lap her, but if they have a spare seat alot of times they mgiht let you stick her in it and its oh so much nicer for diaper changes and naps just space!

Also bring the stroller to the gate with you, theyl store it under the cabin and pull it out for you after the flight so you dont have to carry her around :)

The flight attendant said if the baby cries during take off and landing, let them - it helps clear their ears. You can try benedryl to knock them out and help with their ears, too. David and Catherine both didn't seem to care either way. Feeding them during take off and landing helps also.

I think she said she paid for the seat so definitely take your carseat onto the plane. Take advantage of early boarding and just wait till everyone gets off to get up yourself - it's just easier than having to rush.

hehe yeah i forget something as soon as I see it, *sigh*

And a binky works for ear pressure too if you use one ( pacifier) anything to force them to swallow. :)

She usually hates pacificers, but I'll be taking some just in case. Our seats are near the back of the plane, so I'll just be chilling till folks get off. All else, I can nurse her if she gets anxious during that wait.

Do airlines generally require you bring along a birth certificate? Friend of mine said she wasn't asked for one and the website wasn't specific enough so I wasn't sure. I'd rather not bring it if I don't have to.

no, not usually, though Ive always brought one with me, ive never been asked for it.

I'll be bringing a certified copy of her's as a covering my ass issue. hehe

You don't have to bring anything if you're flying domestic. If you're trying to cross the international border without your spouse/other parent, you might be asked for written permission to take the child out of the country. Otherwise no, you don't need anything else.

Binkies, bottles of water/juice, nursing...anything you can do to get her to swallow during takeoff and landing should help with the pressure in her ears, and keep her pain free.

Picked her up some new toys today. Got her some Lamaze ones. She loves the ones she has, plus they make very little noise. Also got her a new teether. Now pretty much just need to ensure I have the diaper supplies and we'll be good.

Thanks for the tips ladies.
