She's 42?

Chick from Clueless. Did anyone else know she was born in 1966 and played a 17 year old girl in 1995 when she was in her late 20's? Shit I hope I look that good at her age. =x

I remember being really stunned when I was told that Charisma Carpenter was nearly 30 years old when she played a high school student in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She should be about 37 years old now, give or take a year.

Those women are in the public eye and are constantly under pressure to maintain their bodies. They probably work out more than the average woman even has time for. Most magazine articles I see seem to have a small joke about how little they eat or how they look forward to the day they can eat a whole cheesecake or something of that nature.

They're only under pressure because they let themselves be. I've had a few conversations with my girlfriend about this and she, too, occasionally feels it, but more recently (I hope with a little thanks to my influence) has realized she's doing it for her health, because I love her as she is. If she feels comfortable or feels she needs to lose weight, so be it, but I'll love her for her and not for what mass media tells her the numbers on the scale should be.

That said, I was thrilled when I read this article about Michael Bay ordering Megan Fox to throw on a little weight for TF2.

And I know I was disappointed when Jewel Staite lost so much weight between Firefly and Serenity the movie.

No woman let's herself be demoralized and humiliated for being over weight. It's not like we have a choice to actually be thin if we could. I don't choose the way I look now - I'd give money to be the way I was when I was 24. However, I have accepted it and concentrate on my other fabulous attributes. My charming wit and faboo hair.

Actually, hollywood women don't have a choice about it. If you're not a size -2 to 4 you're probably not going to get very many good roles.

Sex sells. and you can't mass sell yourself if you aren't scrawny. Magazines will not put you on their covers or inside, companies will not want you to represent them. its all about image and what sells.

America's Next Top Model's recent winner is a plus model. Read plus as size 7. Give me a break.

Mile, you're an awesome boyfriend to your gal! ;) No, I know what you mean. Thanks to unlimited celebrity blogs and gossip sites out there, you do get a chance to see the stars when they're relaxing and not working. They look normal like everyone else, but when it's time for them to film or do a job, they hit the gym and shed the pounds before they emerge with their public persona.

I just read an article yesterday that 1 in 4 Americans are officially obese. With statistics like that, I would think that there's less room to be self-conscious because chances are, there are very few people who are in the position to judge. Can we finally do away with t-shirts for men, but when we want a feminine cut, they're only offered in junior sizes? I'm so tired of this.

And Roz, I agree. I was rooting for that girl to win, but I didn't consider her to be a plus-sized model. She looked like a normal girl. (Toccara Jones looked like a real plus sized model and she really worked it. Probably my fave so far.) She's supposed to be a size 14 in this photo.

I won't lie and say some celebrities aren't hot in the roles and makeup etc, because they are. However, most aren't attractively skinny. Curves are still good. I'm trying to think of examples besides Paris Hilton, but I don't find that type of body attractive at all. Lindsey Lohan and that other disney chick, um....well I can't remember her name but she tried to be portrayed all innocent (might be I don't know) and had blonde hair? Anyway while they weren't really my type they were decently cute and then both lost weight and just started looking sick. I sometimes wonder how the model look became so popular when many guys I know don't like girls THAT skinny.
