Eek!
So I posted my profile on a horsey job site. Next day this ranch in Texas sends me a message about a job on their ranch. They called me yesterday (musta cost a fortune lol) and said they'd let me know in the next few days if I have it or not.
I hope SOOOOO much that I get it, I have everything crossable crossed. If I get my way, I'll be in Texas soon yay!

Erm...is the weather really that bad? Bear in mind I am aScot, I live in a country where the sun shines about 1 month of the year (usually May) then pisses down for the rest of the year. It does get quite warm, but its a humid heat which I hate.

I've only visited Texas, and even then it was under duress. You'll get humid...LOTS of humid...and lots of HOT...all year long. Even in their winter months its not uncommon for hot weather...hot, humid, weather...:P You'll get enough sunshine the first year to make up for an entire lifetime of the grey weather of Scotland lol

I lived in New Mexico, right on the border near Lubbock and Amarillo and the weather there isn't too bad, but it is distinct. You get all four seasons. Beautiful but wet spring, HOT summer (dry in NM), cold and chilly fall, snowy winter.
You'll get a tan, that's for sure.

I've been through Texas once, in August, and it was so hot! But the sky in Texas is amazing. Of course the drive through I had one arm out the window and by the end of the night I had one tan arm and one pastey white arm. I guess that's being Hispanic/Irish for you!

Oh the most amazing thing you'll see in Texas is the amount of cows they have in such small places. There are stockyards EVERYWHERE. On the way to Amarillo you pass this 1/4 of a mile stretch of land that have shoulder to shoulder cows. The smell is unreal.
People are nicer out there though, you constantly have to wave back at the people passing you on the road.

Ewwwwww... Dallas. (an explanation.. Houstonians hate Dallas, and vice versa) All in all I hear it is a good city, and you will be near one of the largest in the state. And you will be far enough inland to never worry about hurricanes other than their remnants bringing waves of nasty thunderstorms. The countryside in Texas is surreal in places, you still have lots of little small town places with picturesque main streets etc... but you can be in a massive metropolitan city not too far away and enjoy the best of both worlds.
I do love my state! =)

Lol, that sounds like the Edinburgh and Glasgow relastionship. The actual place I'll be in is Palmer which I looked up and has like 2k people o.O I've always live in or very near a city, my current house being the furthest I've lived from a city and we have like 50k people hehe.

No, no hurricanes, they live inland. They said they have too many US trips to do, and they are having 3 weeks in Europe at end of year.
Still, I had a gut feeling all along it was too good to be true. It was perfect :(
