Whether I was going to vote for her or not, these kinds of things irritate me.

Actors are not exactly hired for their brains or political savvy. And wtf do dinosaurs have to do with nukes?

I guess I would be concerned if my country's potential leader didn't have a grip on basic history. Afew years ago we had a woman running for our Prime Minister role, Pauline Hanson. Her answer to economic issues was, if we don't have enough money the Reserve can print us more. Her idea on immigration was that Australia was at risk of being overrun by Asians who can't speak english and will take all our jobs. She was dumber than dirt and anyone with half a brain could see that. Trouble was there are plenty of folks with less than half a brain who are allowed to vote, and she had a significant amount of support.

So, I think when you are deciding who the decision-makers and power-brokers are for your government, it is fair to ask if they, you know, actually KNOW stuff before you hand over the keys to the big gun cupboard. But YMMV.

Yep, I figure I don't really have the inside view on what politics is like over there, only what I read on news sites and from what a glean from forums.

Maybe your politicians are smarter than the ones we have down here. So I figure your mileage may vary on just how much you want to trust them before knowing about them and what they are about.

Palin speaks very well, from the bits they have put on our news. Is she really up to the task if she is required to become the President? Is there any talk from the Republicans about how they think that will go down, if something befalls McCain?

Actor or not I thought he made some valid points, and he made some of the same points that have been mentioned on this board in other threads.

As far as nukes - I think he was simply saying that he didn't trust someone that couldn't believe in fundamental science to be in charge of nuclear weapons in our country.

I just think he's hot. Only reason I watched; what was it he was talkin' about?

Ok, now as much as I like to look at Matt Damon...I made the mistake of reading The Bourne Identity first and then watching how badly they fucked it up for a movie :(

shouldn't compare books to movies. its impossible to translate them directly to film :p

NO, you can't translate them directly, but in this case they basically wrote a whole new story that just happens to have the same title

the worst ever example of a movie fucking up a story and using that title is King Arthur.. I love the king arthur stories and mythology, Mists of avalon and knights of the round table etc.. even sword in the stone ( disney), but that movie just pissed me off.

Glad I didn't read the books, cause I love the Bourne series. I think Matt is a really good actor, but it still bugs me when people put so much stock into what he says just because he is an actor.

Silence of the Lambs pissed me off to no end. Hell, Jurassic Park was totally different, mixing the first and second book between the first and second movie.
