Palin appeared on SNL’s opening skit along with executive producer Lorne Michaels and 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin this past Saturday night. Hell, I even stayed up to watch it.

Mike walked by the tv and attempted to turn it to a different station.

‘DON’T! DON’T! DON’T DON’T DON’T!’

Mike stood there with a slightly shocked face.

‘Sarah Palin’s on SNL tonight.’

A roll of eyes then Mike crawled into bed to watch with me.

Palin was funny as the straight (wo)man and good gravy Palin and Fey look a lot a like. There had been rumors she’d appear and of course it sparked a discussion on whether that’s even a good idea, considering VP Republican nominee and Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin would not give the major media any more interviews (the one’s she did do were…well great cannon fodder for SNL). All this was followed up by Colin Powell’s ‘Meet the Press’, (we miss you Tim Russert) with Tom Brokaw, coming out and endorsing Barack Obama and crossing his party line.

In a follow up interview he even dropped the M word - (Maverick) and busted Palin saying she is not ready to be VP.

Basically they’re saying in the two weeks left for campaigning, Powell’s announcement effectively redirects any attention McCain might have snagged for at least the next two days - 1/5th of potential time lost.

Interesting.
