Coraline

Anyone see this? I really am not crazy about 3D for full-length movies, but I wanted to see it anyway. Really good. Perfect amount of creepiness. I haven't read the book, so I don't really know how much was changed.

So it's a kids' story. It actually brought back a lot of imagery I had when I was a kid, including some nightmares and some trippy non-nightmares. I was a little worried when all the pre-trailer content 10-15 minutes before the movie were all commercials for really young kid stuff, but I guess they put those in any theater that's showing a PG movie or lower. We went to the last showing of the night, so thankfully it was an almost empty theater. Only heard one or two kids talking the entire time.

One of my friends still won't get off my case about seeing a kids' movie without a kid. Of course, she also finds it hysterical that I saw it with another guy. On Valentine's Day. We had a seat buffer between us

Mike took Catherine and her friend to this. She's 9 and her friend is pretty sensitive, but Catherine LOVED it. Mike said it was borderline horror movie for a kid. Shit, Monster House scared me and Catherine. He told me about the story and it does sound seriously disturbing for kids. Anything with creepy eyes would have had me screaming out of the theater as a kid.

I want to see it, but I'm not sensitive enough to go without a kid. So - I need to borrow one - if anyone is offering.

I need to find my old 3D glasses from Beowulf.

They didn't show it in 3D here, though =(

I would've preferred it that way. They made us pay extra for those glasses, and think we're gonna return 'em. Pffft. I have mine right here.

We picked this up when it came out on dvd. I actually really liked this movie. A little dark for a kid's movie I thought, but I really enjoyed the story of it. The creepy pink house, the 'other mother' and the talking cat. Admittedly, it gave me nightmares that first night but yeah, it is really kind of dark.

Basically the 'other mother' takes the eyes of children she lures through the portal door and eats their soul. Yikes.

I thought the book was quite charming. <3 Neil Gaiman. Would like to see the movie, I think the kid's been asking for it.

I haven't seen it, and I wasnt sure bout the kids seeing it, but their grandma took them when it came out. I was suprised, Sarah ( my 7 year old) just loves it, she says its her favorite and wants to get it on video. (right up there with Barbie fairy movies and the Nightmare Before Christmas )

I swear the child has some goth in her.. she only wears pink and purple but when she draws its skeletons, ghosts, bats.. people getting electrocuted by lightning... Strange child...
