Ugh, that whole thing confuses me.

i can understand why they want it but to make it work (coz alot of people use more then just one program) seems silly , tho i wouldnt mind blocking the pornish crap people put up in everything it seems T_T

Art shouldn't be divided up by the fucking program you use or should I say models since that is the main thing I see him pointing out in the whole thing. Art should be divided up by type and theme. Clearly that is not good enough for people? Heaven fucking forbid they have to drop a note or read the details/credits listed under the fucking pictures ..... that is all ....

Yeah they did the same dumb thing for vector/vexel - if it was done in illustrator or inkscape it's a vector, if it was done in photoshop or gimp it's a vexel, even if you are using the -exact same technique- to create your image (using the pen tool to draw a celled color map over a photo or your own drawing).

I think the ability to sort images by medium is a neat tool and that people should somehow note how they made their images, but I don't understand the hair splitting.

Oh good lord. Gotta love it when this can of worms gets opened up every now and then.


And...I think when you start getting too technical with how things are made you start to lose some of the intergrity of the art. I don't expect a painter to tell me what brushes or paints they use....it's a little stupid to me and takes away from the whole point, which is the art.

oh I thought he just wanted to divide up things like 3d images vs 3d modeling and stuff that doesnt quite fall in either category.. I could understand that

Id rather not have it like rendo though where you have to pick a gallery based on program and style and content of the image.. what a pita

I posted on there explaining what I do and asked where I would fit in to their little system and some dude posted again AFTER the original poster already answered and was a total dick to me heh /rolleyes

Just gets my dander up when people invite good faithed discussions and then call some people's ideas retarded. But it looks like I misunderstood the original post - I had thought Butch was in some sort of position of authority on DA and was irritated by what I perceived as absolutely wretched moderation. Now the entire interaction makes more sense :D.
