I don't get it, to be honest. I haven't bought any of the steampunk poser stuff =x

movies and books like City of Ember, The Time Machine, The Golden Compass, Series of Unfortunate Events, Waterworld, etc are all pretty steampunk themed.. Its like, futuristic or modern victorian.

I've been buying steampunk jewelry for several months now, because I love the personality it has, combining really old things in modern ways. Its not always easy to find really 'good' stuff, but its fun looking. Flea markets and craft fairs are good sources, plus Etsy carries some really nice pieces. I'm hoping I'll find a source of materials soon and can try making some of my own pieces.

I wasn't aware that it had spread out into interior design though, but like a lot of what I see there

I'm not quite sure I understand the style totally but there are a lot of dancers who are fusing this steampunk style with the traditional bellydance style and it has created an interesting combination of costuming and music.

Oh, My... for those of you who don't know.. there's a band called Abney Park here in WA that does steampunk music... they're awesome!!!

It's kinda a fusion of goth/piraty & all kinda of stuff. Their newest album has some awesome Middle Eastern/Gypsy/piraty/Roaring 20's sounds.

Why I didn't see this thread earlier I dunno, cause I"m so totally in love with steampunk Damn you Erin for not telling me about it!!

Even made myself an outfit to wear to an AP show back in August

Eve.. if you ever get the chance to go to one of their shows, DO IT... omg, they're awesome. The one in August here had aerialists , firedancers & a steampunk fashion show!!! That & they have an amazing chemistry with the audience.

They also tend to have steampunk themed vendors with lots of fun goodies to browse through!!
