Deliciously brown Terrence Howard has opted not to return to 2010’s Iron Man II. Signed on to take his place is Don Cheadle.
Cheadle starred in all 3 Ocean movies with George Clooney and Brad Pitt as the british mechanical brother ‘Basher’ and is starring in ‘Traitor’ just recently released with decent reviews.
I gotta say, I’m a little sad. They’re saying it was a money issue with Howard. I say give the man his money; his portrayal of Rhodey in I.M. was pretty cool. Especially the part where he looks at the prototype Iron Man suit and says, ‘Next time, baby.’
Still, Don Cheadle is an outstanding actor. I know he’ll do the part justice, I just hate when they change actors =(

He didn't really strike me as the "toughie" Rhodey was in the comics. I always had an image of him being a gruffer, deeper-voiced guy. That being said, he was pretty believable as a Stark confidant.

cheadle played a parkinson's invested ER doc on ER.

Kinda odd - a Holmes movie full of explosion and action. I'm not opposed to it, but I do feel like they dumbed down a traditionally cerebral story for the 21st century. COOL! =D

I think it looks fun! Ive never read the books.. nor have I ever planned to.. so however badly they mess up the original plot/storyline wont bother me

The stories are very good, but yeah Holmes' story has been retold so many times, I don't think it would upset any die hard fans. It's always neat to see Moriarty pop up throughout other movies though.

That really does look awesome. Mickey Rourke is awesome. Robert Downey Jr. is awesome. Whoever that chick - the one with the curly hair who was kicking ass - is, she's awesome. Gwenyth Paltrow is... well, she's okay. Don Cheadle, he's not very awesome. But he's the underdog, so I give him props.
I might be compelled to see this one in the theaters.

Apparently he was too much money. He was the first to sign on for the first one, before RDjr did apparently and he wanted some serious money to do the second. They recast him without him knowing it. O_o I dig Don Cheadle though, so it's good with me.

I don't dislike the man, I just don't think he is very impressive. He's certainly a top notch b-list actor, but comparing him with, say, Robert Downey Jr. is embarassing to both of them. He's more like a likeable version of Keanu Reaves (in terms of acting ability) who only makes half as much money.
