I thought it was hilarious! So much for CBS being fair in considering commercials. :P

Well they're wearing the wrong jerseys, aren't they. And I guess it's funny, but really not all that well done of a commercial.

Yeah considering it costs millions to even have a commercial during the superbowl, that looks super cheap.

I think it's sort of insulting to gays. Replace one of those men with a woman. If you saw that commercial on TV, you would definiately be like "wtf?". It's just inappropriate, period.

I just thought it was stupid

Well...its a vikings and packers fan....thats suppose to the "catch"

Censorship sucks.. thre is no reason NOT to show that ad! It wasn't indecent or anything more than cheesy making out. Oh wait it was two MEN *screams and has the vapors*

If it was a man/woman or woman/woman.. would it have been rejected? And if it's lower budget production again who cares? The cheesyness of it all was suitable. And sorry but if some people whine about not wanting their kids exposed to that then they better never take them out in public because guess what.... it exists.

Man/woman, man/man, woman/woman, it doesn't make a difference. It's just not appropriate for a commercial on American TV at this time. If it were on a sitcom it would be a different story.

Kissing in public is acceptable, depending on where you are. Jumping on someone like you're going to eat their face off... that's just bizzarre.

I don't get what you mean by 'American TV' if you then turn around and say a sitcom is different.
I still think its a funny commercial, and wouldn't have minded my child seeing it.

I think 'commercial' was the key word there.

I don't know...I was content to just give the network the benefit of the doubt - after all, we've named a few reasons this would not make a good ad other than "they're a bunch of censoring bigots" - but to find out that they're allowing a pro-life ad kind of gets my goat. I -am- pro-life (not an invitation to discussion btw, that's the last thing we need) and I find the idea of that ad absolutely cringeworthy.

Ah! Thanks, that makes sense.

However, when it comes to appropriate commercials on 'American TV', I'd certainly rather see that then one on Viagra prescriptions, or genital hygiene products, etc. :P

Maybe they just thought it wasn't funny, and was pointless. I sure didn't offend me, but I'd personally rather not have my time wasted during the superbowl watching crappy commercials (I'm sure there will be plenty anyway, but now its one less)

Yes, "commercial" was the key word. I threw in "American" as an afterthought, because in Europe, they have commercials with nudity and what not.

I'm not saying it makes a bunch of sense, I'm just saying that's how it seems to be. Americans are somewhat uncomfortable with public displays of affection. If you saw people jumping all over each other like that on a bus or a train, you'd probably think it was weird, too.

It reminds me of the gay guys who got arrested (were they arrested? something happened) for making out on a church property. They weren't just walking by and sharing a tasteful kiss; they were on the premesis for hours, sucking face, just to spite the church. That's crossing the line, and that's why they got in trouble for it.

You also have to consider the target audience

I watch the Superbowl for Football...not commercials.
Vulash 16 years ago
Didn't realize it had to be either or
Kelefane 16 years ago
Some people seriously only watch the Super Bowl for the commercials =p

I remember watching one or two Super Bowls just to see the Bud Bowl, but that was in the 80s.. they got stupid after the 4th or 5th one :(
