I gotta tell you though, as a parent I was terrified when both my kids were in for their first MMR shots. Especially this 2nd time around with David. I kept asking his doctor and immunization tech all sorts of questions and I'll admit it, I hesitated but did go through with it. The tech was telling me that a guy brought his 4 kids in and only 1 out of the 4 was NOT autistic. Her personal opinion was that it was definitely genetic, not the MMR shot. Still, the odds of a child having autism is 1 out of 140. Those odds are pretty damn scary when you're pregnant and imagining all sorts of paranoid shit. =/ This story is a bit of a relief.

Yeah I agree. We had a long discussion with our doctor and did a lot of research before we allowed James to have any shots. Especially since boys seem to be more prone to autism than girls. That compounded with the fact that my cousins daughter is severely autistic made it a really hard road. As a parent you want to do your best and make the right decisions. Which is hard when there's conflicting stories and opinions and ideas. I think research into autism is still in it's infancy and it's a hard call on anyone's part. James is fine and has all his shots and they do early development screening in town and we had that done too -- perfectly healthy baby boy so far :)

About double motherfucking time!
Edit: Also, IN YOUR FACE Jenny McCarthey!
Edit again - Sorry, got a little excited. Sadly, this probably will have very little effect on the vaccine-autism debate. The damage has been done.
