Well, other than the exceptional eye candy that this movie offers (main character from Moonlight tv show vampire detective guy), Kate Beckinsale, and the hot UN agent - this movie was kinda...blah. I liked it, but it pretty much ended about an hour into it - the next 30-40 minutes was, I'm sure, meant to be the long twist, but really it just kind of hung there.
Queue beginning - a Russian plane with 2 pilots and guards are hovering over 'a box' in the 1950's. Long story short - everyone dies and down it goes in the Antarctic. Next, it's 2009 and it's just on the cusp of the winter rotation season - everyone is gearing to leave, including U.S. Marshall Stecko (Kate Beckinsale). A couple more people are introduced as well as a body in the middle of fucking no where.
No coat. No gear. Dead, with a recently stitched up leg wound and a big ole gash in the chest, probably from an ice axe. Turns out, this dude is a geologist a long ways from his home base. He is 1 of 3 geo's out there. Geo #2 calls - 'get here, just you, now.' She of course goes with a pilot and finds #2 geo dying with his throat cut. Frantic fighting and chasing as the masked killer comes after her and she runs out into the cold without gloves and fucks her hand up on the metal door. Enter hot UN agent. Blah blah blah, they head back to base and boom, #3 geo turns up.
It continues with more mystery, murder, and me watching the wig line on Kate's head. You get glimpses of why she decided to Marshal out in the middle of BFE's BFE and it of course leads to the ending which is not unexpected and the last 5 mins is way lame.
I dont know, I liked it but it's definitely a 'one time movie'. You get some awesome half nakedness of KB in the very beginning and watching her walk with a swagger making snow gear look hot was a plus, but really it's a straight to dvd flick.
