First Alaskan Earthquake

At approximately 9:39am alaska time we had our first earthquake! I was sitting talking to jennafae on IM's and it felt like the dog was nudging my chair (i sit in a recliner, no real desk yet) but I look over to my right and I see the dog on my couch. The dog looks at me and is like...wtf? Then suddenly the entire house shifts for about 2 seconds. Then the dog is up off the couch going 'WTF?!' Then it stopped.

The last earthquake I felt, I was like 16 and I heard the garage door slam hard. I walked out of my room and down the hall and asked my dad, 'Why'd you slam the door?'

He said, 'I didnt slam it, I thought you did.'

So I say, 'Was that an earthquake?'

He replied, 'Hmm, guess so.' And goes back to his book. :P

Weeelll, we live in my husbands families house, and his room has always been downstairs in the remade basement part they built. We took our own money and added onto it, and made several rooms down here for our own use. We have planned to move out a while back, but Since Drades mom passed away, Ive stayed here, picking up and taking care of (or trying) Jack, his dad. Hes not in really good health btw. Hes diabetic, Im worried about him. Anyway, he looked completely forlorn and dieing when I mentioned leaving so we stayed, for now. And that be where I stay. :)

I was 4 in 1971 when we had the Sylmar quake. It's my earliest memory. The last really big quake I felt was the '94 Northridge quake. I work on the 7th floor of an office building in Santa Ana and we felt the Cambria quake last year. That was the weirdest one for me, I was on the phone with a homeowner and I suddenly felt like I had vertigo, I got really dizzy. It took a few seconds until I heard someone say, "earthquake" before I realized that the whole building was moving, not just my head.

Anyway, Roz...welcome to earthquake country. :D

We lived in earthquake country before. She seems to have forgotten the earthquake we had back in like 2000 or so in WA. Haha, that was a good day since my bosses fish tank fell over and smashed killing her fish and soaking her floor and bed.
