you're pissed because you pissed people off with your bad habits that cause cancer ?
thats retarded, i'm sorry. But i can't stand smokers who think they have the "right" to pollute the air and contiminate all these other people who dont want to be.
its just as reckless and careless as drunk driving in my eyes. do whatever you want as long as it doesnt hurt someone else, but when you cross that line, you're just asking for people to bitch and moan about it.
You hate the fuckers with the cell phones at the movies, the bitches who bring their little kids in, screamin and cryin.. Well i hate people who smoke and make me gag on the smell and putrid taste that i get in my mouth.
Smokers
I'm so sick of the fucking ostracizing of smokers these days. It's ok now to treat people like scum these days because they smoke. Pussification of society at it's finest. This is just another glimpse of big brother slowly working his magic. Soon he will control everything, and these people are helping him. That's all I have to say at this time.

I'm a smoker and so is my husband It doesn't bother us one bit, of course we have a kid and try not to smoke around her so I guess we just adapted!
p.s. everything causes cancer :P

For me, it's more important to the people around me not to be bothered by second hand smoke than it is for me to get my fix wherever, whenever. I don't mind being a little inconvenienced. The government dictating where I can smoke annoys me a little because I think businesses can decide on their own if they're going to allow smoking, but really that doesn't often enter into my feelings on smoking in public.

I live at home.
I make at least 50% more money than my mother does.
My brother is out of work.
My sister works two jobs and barely makes half of what I do. She supports her boyfriend to a small extent.
I pay the utility bills and insurance. This usually kills most of my paychecks for the month.
My mom sends my brother, every 2-3 weeks, down to Delaware for 180-200 dollars worth of cigarettes. Then she bitches at me when I 'don't contribute enough to cover' bills. (Of course, she also has left up to five cigs burning at anyone time.)
I walk out of the house every morning smelling like that stuff. Noxious, nasty... And somehow they all make me sneeze, make my eyes water, my nose run. (The neurologist I visited even suggested my migraines might be coming from a toxic reaction from the cig smoke.)
I visited a friend in NY a couple years ago for two days. Took a change of clothes. So when I opened my backpack to dress after a shower, what did I smell? Nicotine waft.
I spend most of my time in my bedroom to avoid it. It gets really bad sometimes because all my brother's friends smoke, and if I'm needed to fix the computer or something, I walk into two 15x15 rooms filled with the toxic cloud of anywhere from 3-8 smokers. Like to die when I smell that.
I once received a closed-mouthed kiss from a girl who smoked. It was one of the nastiest things I've ever tasted.
I hate smoking on so many levels... financial, hygenial, romantical... I'd rather smell some of the farts my brother or dad rip out after eating beans or chili (which smells like something crawled up their asses and died) than cigarette smoke.

I have the same physical reaction to smoke, Mileron.
However, I dont have any issue *politely* asking a smoker to just not breathe on me if they dont mind. I dont go to bars, but some of my class friends smoke and Ill go outside with them to get .... outside! =)
Ive never really had an issue with someone not smoking on me - generally if you just ask nicely, and I say that it really bothers my contacts and makes me sneeze, Ive only had a few roll their eyes. Most of em just go sure and turn the other way.
The only real issue I have with smoking is that people who can barely afford to buy food will smoke 1-2 packs a day. And then complain about having no money. Especially when I worked at Starbucks - people would spend all their tips on cigs and then whine that they didnt have lunch money or couldnt cover some bills. When its like, hey, youre spending $100+ a week on cigs! When its half your paycheck, its a problem to me.
Now people that smoke because they do and can afford it and dont do it around people, whatever. Its your life, your lungs. You know what could happen and you know that everytime you open a pack. At least there are aids to quitting now - my grandparents quit when I was young and had to just chew gum. They also gained some weight cuz they ate when they got cravings
But its like any other addiction, this one just happens to give you cancer and make ya smell musty. =)

Veb and I once made his mother cry because we wanted to take our car on our sunday trip instead of theirs. I was pregnant at the time and we were concerned with second hand smoke. His father of course had a cow and me being pregnant, cried along with my mother in law when she finally said something.
I actually like the fact that some resturants prohibit smoking everywhere. I grew up with my father smoking a cigarette every 7 minutes. I timed him once. He has now retreated into the garage since my mother is very allergic to it now with her asthma. He's pretty grumpy about it, but he even upgraded the central air system in the house to filter even more smells out of the house for my mother.
I dont smoke, neither does Veb. His mother eventually stopped smoking when she started to cough up blood for no apparent reason. Doctors advised her to stop smoking. His father doesn't even smoke around her now. Not in the house or car and went 2 weeks without smoking because they were on vacation. He smokes at his shop though, why he doesn't just stop altogether, i dont know.
Funny story though, my father got upset at my mother once for spending too much money at the navy exchange. Well 150 dollars of it was for his cigarettes, which was the bulk of the bill. I had to laugh at that myself. My mother just rolled her eyes.
I wont even get into the smell. Veb grew up with 2 chain smokers and would wash his hair and spray hairspray on his shirt to get rid of the smell before he came and saw me. So cute, washing his hair. Anyway, unfortunately smokers are treated like second class citizens these days. I dont think its big brother chomping down on us, I think its the US finally telling the smoking businesses that 'fuck you, you lied and it killed people, pay up.'

I personally like that it's getting more restricted. I don't smoke, and when I'm in a restaurant I prefer that my food not taste like ass due to someone smoking next to me. I'm also allergic to it.
My big gripe... smokers used to always get more breaks in many jobs and classes that I have. Back when I worked a regular job you'd get 2 15 minute breaks and a 45-100 for lunch. Well, apparently if you were a smoker.. you get smoke breaks too. That ain't fair at all. lol.

Rofl when I was at Starbucks, I took smoke breaks.
Ive never smoked in my life, but if the damn smokers (and I say that non judgementally, just the term we used) gets a 10 min break per hour, us non smokers do too.

I smoke, but I go out of my way to make sure I don't blow it on or near anyone. I even make sure I stand upwind from friends while smoking when we are walking and they've known me for years ;p If I need one bad and I'm near someone that I don't know I usually ask if it will bother them and then move as far away as I can. My parents hate it and one of my best friends hate it and I guess thats why I developed those habits.

My GF smoked for 6 years, it was starting to effect the kiddo. She stopped 3 weeks ago, and I cannot be more proud of her for doing that. I hated the smoking, but I eventually got used to it. I did hate my clothes smelling like an ashtray, so I put them in a closet furthest away from the usual smoking places, and that helped quite a bit.
I have many friends that are smokers...It doesn't bother me really, but when people start talking about what about smokers rights, I'll have to agree that I don't feel too bad about you not being able to smoke in a resturant. Unless the resturaunt has seperate rooms with ventalation systems in them, it is pointless to have a non smoking section. What keeps the smoke from going from your section to the non smoking side? An invisible force field? No, its a box, it will go wherever it wants.

i dont mind if people smoke.
well, i dont let them smoke in my room, but im no longer upset when my clothes smell, its just not worth it washing them each time. i dont mind if they get cigarette breaks or so, but it makes me smile deep inside to know that i saved thousands or tenthousands already at my age because i didnt start smoking.

Propaganda is what i hate most.
Before I came to the States, I lived and breathed among smokers. Every morning I came to the office and emptied every single ash tray on the guys' desks, just so they could puff around me for the whole day.
I was not a smoker and I never found them annoying...
until I came to the States and I had been listening to all these things about second-hand smoking, that I finally started to feel annoyed by the smoke in my husband's car.
Mind you, I used to find his breathe sexy...
Oh well.

I quit smoking over 5 years ago. Now if I am around smokers, my eyes water, and I feel physically nauseous. If my fiance and I go out to a bar and come home, we shower to get rid of the smoke. If not neither of us can sleep at night, and I usually am sick as hell in the morning.
I quit smoking and I gained energy and endurance. I gained $$$ in my pocket. As for the "Propaganda" that smokers claim is unfairly critized and discriminated against. I am not going to stop you from smoking, outside. Inside, I don't want it around me, and most of us non-smokers feel the same way.
