Mmm femme fatale and a gamer... delicious.

(ahem)

Where I was going with this thread was twofold:

1) I've seen boards where the folks on them do MMORPG's and nothing else. I don't play MMORPG's, but I do table-top gaming. Nothing against MMO's or those who play... They're just not for me.

2) I am searching for a way to integrate a free-form magic system (a la Mage: the Ascenscion) into the d20 system. As you have played both, have you seen any free-form d20 systems?
Mai 20 years ago
No I've not seen a freeform d20 system. EQ kills table top gaming, I swear. I lived with a gm for 10 years and we couldn't manage to find the time to game once both of us started playing EQ. (different guilds, different schedules)

I've not played a good table top game in ages. Man, I miss it!

Still, I'd love to help you out if I can. It sounds interesting. I love the creative ability of Mage. My favorite for freeform though was the very first edition of Immortal but it never caught on. People thought it was too hard to figure out =/ so they dumbed it up and now its just not the same game at all.

Funny aside: I was cleaning yesterday and found two d20's. Wow, damn, haven't seen those in a while.

Tabletop...yesssss...

I love tabletop rpgs...so much more personal than mmorpgs!!

We play every Saturday night...sometimes more.

I've been playing for 20 years now, starting with the D&D red box set...*smiles fondly at the memories*...and while D&D is still my fave (now in d20), I've also dabbled in White Wolf's settings (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Mummy, Exalted), Shadowrun, Engel, RIFTs, and I recently picked up Fireborn...and more on the way! ;)

On top o' dat, I also started a publishing company (*points at the link to Wanderer's Haven*) to publish my own works, and to hopefully help other people get their stuff out there too! RPGs MUST LIVE FOREVER!

*evil grin*

Oh...and just to top the UBER DORKINESS...I carry a black d20 around with me for good luck. :P

I miss tabletop gaming... :sad Shadowrun was the main one we've done, (we've done tons, most of them already mentioned) before that was a custom game my ex created, was how X and I met online playing it. Those Saturday night sessions stopped when I dumped him :/ I wish I knew how to find a good gaming group around here /sigh

Check out www.ghostorb.com

It's tabletop gaming online for people who can't find groups, want to play more often, etc...and they have professional games too, which are run by paid DMs! I'm not sure if they're up and running yet, but the concept is pretty darned cool!

I hate D&D like I hate nothing else. I can't even begin to tell you how much I hate this game. Other then the fact that GMs are imperfect and I have witnessed more then one GM change the game to suit themselves favoring people (often hot chicks) that they like...I've got another chip on my shoulder about it also.

When I first moved to Chicago I only had one group of friends. It was difficult to get them together to go out and DO anything. I'm a social person...I like to go out regularly. I like to dance, drink, party. I've always had multiple groups of friends so if someone was doing something boring, I'd call up the other gang. Not so in Chicago when we first got here. The only thing my friends ever did with any regularity (including my husband) was play fucking D&D which I despise. I mean they wouldn't even go out to the movies! I was often left at home alone and bored and wanting to go out dancing but didn't know anybody. I felt like a loser and I wasn't even playing the damn loser *haha you have no charisma* game.

One night after a screaming fit about being left home alone AGAIN, I made the husband upgrade my video card and buy me Everdark. The end.

ive never played DnD but ive played GURPS which is pretty close to it.. sucks ass a new game was starting up the week AFTER i left for TX. the main thing we did was laugh our asses off tho. but i guess that really depends on the DM and game your playing.

I love table top RPG's..
and I'll play just about anyone of them..

I like it because its always new and different, sometimes it sucks but most of the time it doesnt, its all dependant on your GM..

i'd really like to get back into it.. I have so many shadowrun and VtM source books its not even funny..

Temp abd I each have our own color co-ordinated dice bags with color co-ordinated full set of die in them.. heh..
Temprah 20 years ago
And don't forget the leather box filled with everything from d4 to d100's... Seriously we have a oh.. 6 x 4 x 2? (i SUCK at measurements lol) box crammed with dice, we used to be so bad we'd roll the dice to decide RL stuff, now we just rock/paper/scissors =p
Nastirith 20 years ago
LOL

Nice, Temp... 8)

I am like a dragon, hoarding all my dice...they're so shiny and sparkly, and I love to bask in the sunlight on huge piles of them...

Anyone ever asked you about your "strange" tattoos? :D

I've played 2nd ed, 3rd ed, GURPS, Shadowrun, and almost played Earthdawn, Alternity/Star*Drive, and Vampire.

I also own a couple of the books for Stargate SG-1 (RPG) as well as a small handful of Warcraft's offerings, but don't play.
Nastirith 20 years ago
*snickers*

Actually, yes...cause people freak out when they find out I have tatt's... I dont' know why...people are strange. ;)

Wow, you own Stargate SG-1 books?! ROCK ON! 8) I picked them up too (love the show) but my gaming buddy base isn't all on the same page as me. Losers. Hehe...

I actually have a 7.5 foot tall bookshelf, about 8 feet wide, that is for my gaming books...the top two shelves have decorations, but otherwise, it's all books, baby...
