Jolie adopts again...

Ok we've all heard the story. Its sweet of her to adopt kids from Cambodia and Eithiopia(sp?). All kids need homes and someone to care for them, but isn't there enough homeless kids here that need home's and families too?

Maybe I'm just ignorant on the subject, but whats wrong with adopting American kids?

Does it even matter? Props to her for adopting in the first place. Who cares what nationality the kid is.

Well...the kids she didn't adopt here are in a system where they will at the very least be kept alive if not ideally happy. There is also a lineup a mile long for American children for adoption. That isn't necessarily true for the children in Cambodia and Ethiopia. I believe this is her reasoning.

Also it only costs 20,000 to adopt in Ethiopia plus airfair where as in America it can cost close to 100,000 if you're lucky. And if your paper work is in order you can adopt in as little one week from start to finish over there, here it can take years.

Does it matter....no. I guess in the grand scheme of things it doesn't. I guess we have our own problem with kids here, that we pay taxes to keep in homes and orphanages etc, right? If I'm wrong, I apologize...I am ignorant on this topic. While I see the point that it is cheaper to adopt overseas, they make millions of dollars per picture, is it really putting them out that much? Most people that want to adopt over here cant, I guess since it costs so much and is such a pain in the ass. But she can help one of our kids....but in the end Anu you are right...Props to her for adopting in the first place. I do agree with that. I'm really not dissing her. Just something I was thinking about today as I loaded up Firefox and saw it on the front page of yahoo.com.

I have to agree with Gilly on that. Kids here are in orphanages on our tax dollars, yes, but at least they are in places where they are fed, clothed, and given a roof over their heads. The same can't really be said for many Cambodian and Ethiopian children. Her work with refugees also helps to care for the world's displaced children. Adopting a child of any nationality is not a selfish act. Sure, she could probably do some work to help children here, but there is a large number of wealthy people in this country that could do the same.

No-one is going to come back and sue her for custody when the kid turns 17 and is written into her will. Unlike the US, where you can always change your mind.

you think she would adopt a 33 yr old male white kid and use it as a sex puppet?

You're too old Maso silly man. The cutoff age is 31, and I just happen to be just that. And I'm half Filipino, which makes me a shoe-in!

This is only true if you are attempting to adopt a blue eyed, blonde haired, caucasian male or female. Yes there really is a waiting list for that. It took 2 days time with paperwork, 0 cost and the govt gave a considerable amount of money to the last people who adopted me.
