Yeah, it's crazy. She lived in Southern Germany and walked a few miles every morning to get bread and stuff. We had a hard time communicating with each other sometimes, but she always sent me a gift for my birthday even when other people forgot. The last few years she kind of forgot I wasn't 10 anymore and was sending me goofy little stuff. My oma was good peeps.

109, wow. She sounds like she was a sweet lady. I had TWO great grandmothers that lived to be 100, but neither made it to 101. My step dad's mother died last week (we were not close) so I'm down to count zero in the grandparent department now.

Yeah, I'm kind of excited that my kid is going to have two great grandmothers. I had one, but I never knew her. She lived in a part of Kentucky where my mom didn't feel it was quite safe to bring a brownie. But I'm told she proudly displayed my picture in her front room and whenever any hillbilly racist asked who she had up there, she'd tell em straight out :) She sounds like she must've been a pretty hip hillbilly old lady. She died about 20 years ago I think. It's neat that you got to know yours Ry. I think that's fairly uncommon in this day and age.

Yeah, I'm glad I did. It's sad that a good person is gone, but then I think about how small we all are. The universe will not pause for the loss of something so tiny in the middle of something so huge. Sometimes I think the things I do every day are so futile because they mean nothing in the grand scheme - they're only important to me. So I wonder, should I live my life only to make me happy or should I try to make other people happy even though if I touch a whole planet of people it will still be only a speck in the universe? I'm torn.

Sorry...these are the things that go through my head when I have the time to think. It's just weighing more heavily now. I took the day off of work cause I just couldn't concentrate on anything else.

109 years old? I don't think anyone would have a reason to be sad at that point. I am sure your grandma rolled hard though Ryala.



People concerned about being specks in the universe can go fuck themselves, seriously. Attempting to compare your singular existence to the motherfucking greatness of everything is seriously flawed, so stop doing it. As a person you are capable of making yourself and others happy, so do both.

And my penguin wants to give you a hug Ryala so you aren't sad anymore.
