Grrr! EQ 1 rant
/rant
Just to vent about something that happened in game last night.
I'm currently a 68 cleric. My mana pool ain't the greatest but I'm working on it, slowly getting upgrades as I complete more DoN's. I can hold my own quite well in a Creator DoN (very hard hitting mobs), and have clericked successfully in Tipt, and I'm a good cleric.
Last night my friends (druid and paladin) and I did a DoN Creator mission and invited a warrior along - I'll call him Dumbass. Now, the paladin has 12k hp without my Conviction, so she's the natural choice for MT. Dumbass, who recently returned to the game, has 9k hp with my Conviction buff.
Dumbass can't NOT taunt when someone else is tanking. I'm constantly having to burn mana on a HoT on him while keeping the MT up as well, because he keeps stealing agro with his taunting. He kept taunting and the monk, thinking "well, he's a warrior, he must be MT," was breaking mezzes while assisting Dumbass. So we wiped and had to re-start. The monk says, "Make Dumbass MT," not realizing of course that Dumbass is made of paper mache.
In the first fight, I know I'm not going to be able to keep this guy alive. I can't CH because his hp's drop way too fast, in 10 seconds he would be dead. So I'm blast healing, which sucks mana like nothing else. As a comparison, for the paladin I throw a HoT on her at the beginning of the fight, and then one CH is all the healing she needs during. Now for Dumbass, I tell the druid in tells that I need help with patch heals. So on one fight, I don't know if the chanter was sleeping or what, but Dumbass died because I couldn't blast heal fast enough, and the druid's patch heals weren't helping. He just dropped like a rock.
When he was rezzed back, someone said "Sorry about the death," and he said ...."It's because of no heals."
Oh HELL no!
Asshole. I had just buffed him with Conviction after he was dispelled, and had 30mana, and then had to blast heal his ass because he's got shit gear. He had two healers going full blast on him (and the druid has like 500 AA's so you know he's got healing power up the wazoo), and he still dropped. But it's my fault.... (rolls eyes) Suuuure, 9k hp's fully buffed as a level 70 warrior is A-OK!!
Grrrrrr!

'Stop taunting you fucking pansy, you're wasting my mana.'
'Sorry...I was afk clipping my toenails while you were taunting that mob. My bad.'
and come to think of it my effin wizard has more hp then that warrior. (but AC 4tw says Krass and veyah so i listened to them)
Anyways, I'm just pumping out insane dps, which was unrivaled by ANYTHING aggro-wise. I watch the HoTT and notice that their Warrior is trying his hardest to peel aggro from me. For what reason? I don't know. So I send him a tell saying, 'Hey friend, you don't have to try and take aggro, I think I've got it under control here'. He replies back with, 'Wut r u talkin bout i am not taunting, loll'. (typical Empyreal shit, I guess)
In the end, good prevailed over evil. Peace was restored to the planet. Some Empyreal dude ninja'd the loot off of it anyways. I was just satisfied knowing that I out dps'd 12 players, one of which, being one of the top DPS characters on the server.
Well, that didn't have anything to do with helping you with your rant - but I just wanted to share a fun experience I have had!
Thanks~
In the begining I pick a MT, I announce, "X is main tank, thats who I am healing. Everyone else gets regen."
Then I would regen the group. If someone got hit, they got a shaman mana cheap heal over time. If they got hit more, they had to have FD or something cuz I wasn't healing their ass.
If they died... oh well. The MT was alive, and so was I. We would just mow it down as needed.
I realize DoN probably makes LDoN look pansy (hard LDoN's only plz, kkthx2u), but roll with that strategy. I let people die, and could care less, unless they were the person I said I was healing.
Xandare's Magelo
And heres My Shaman!
Nykolai's Magelo
these two pretty much are the results of 2-3 years of play..
Reminds me of the time when a few friends and I totally destroyed a Empyreal/Club Fu/Ring of Valor clusterfuck of a Dvoin pick-up in Qvic. I was rollin' about 24k / 4100 buffed, and put out about 1600 - 1700 DPS. (this was during /imbue and /equip mind you)
OMG I have -no- idea what you just said.
As a Ranger I would get in group and say "Who's MT?" Then put that person in my /assist hot key and never hit anything until they were fully aggro'd, but then I knew how to play, because playing badly would not have gone over well in this house. *snicker*
Now what you need to do is follow all the advice everyone else gave you and all will be well in the world, well your world anyway. :grin
:wizard (cause I just found him and I think he rocks) :wizard :wizard :wizard
Warning Bitter Cleric Rant!
After the 4 years or more of it, I cant go back. My hubby is back after our 6 months in WoW raiding full force and all that crap. I started a baby shadowknight and only grudgingly join a raid if pleaded with or drunk. (The only happy cleric is a drunk cleric! <- My Motto even though shes a High Elf!)
After raiding for 3 years, I realized that it sucked my will to live. Time sucked (except for stumpy!) and Qvic was mind numbing. Glad I quit in November. Course now seeing how far the guild has gotten is scarey, still doing Time, Tacv, and stuff I just follow and hit my CH key as requested. BLEH!
I am from now on going to announce in groups "%T is MT, that is who gets my primary healing mana." And something like "If you intentionally steal agro from %T, you may or may not get healed." I need some kind of snappy thing to hotkey that says this - anyone got any ideas? No cuss words, please :P
/g Hi all! %T will be our Main Tank today, so I shall be concentrating on %pronown. Please watch your agro!
or:
/g %T is MT. Heals may be slow or non-existant for others while in battle. Watch your agro.
Bard pullage 4tw. All the Bards in the house.....Hollah atchya boy!
errmmmm.. hmmm.. See, I kinda didn't play the normal bard. I refuse to pull. But I was also lower level than most everyone else in the guild we were with and we always had a couple pallys or a chanter pull. I hardly ever did any mezzing or pet-ing of mobs since the chanter would go off when I did. And all they ever wanted from me was mana song and haste /shrug. I can twist 4 songs consistently and add in a 5th insta clicky item (well I could when we played anyways) plus I'd hit the group with selo's as needed. All I really enjoyed was tanking and keeping the group buffed.. I hate that bard's can't MT.. but I like being a bard so /shrug I've no need to list everything else bards can do, y'all know. But from someone who's never gone beyond Kael and a couple PoP raids in a small guild with 2 - 3 groups max when raiding we didn't do bad =) And I think I played a bard differently since I was the only one in the guild.. no one really knew any better LOL
god damnit i miss eq now /cry
Bards > all.
I miss my bard :(
Hijinks I feel you on the small guild problems.. I never even saw HoV, let alone see Time.. that was a joke to us.. But even if you are a small guild let me tell you.. if you are their only active cleric.. you have POWER. Use it. Be a raving bitch on this guy next time and put him in line!!!
I still enjoy it. I'll never see Time (being in a guild with 2 clerics, etc) or any of the high end zones, but I have fun with my guildmates doing quests, seeing new zones, trying new things.
When they bump the max level to 75 im sure time will be clearable with 2-3 clerics.
As an enchanter, I would probably just mention my sympathy for the cleric, who by all rights should be focusing on the mt (and the enchanter, of course, LOL) and how difficult it is to do that when other people insist on taking agro from the MT.
On the other hand, how the heck would a warrior take agro from a pally who is that much stronger than he is? Weird, unless the pally decided to let the warrior be mt out of pity or something.
