I agree. I think one of the whores is in on it.

The tea could also have just been a medium, has anyone considered that it might have been poisoned? This could be a set up that conviently has two possible scape goats...

I've had a couple of posts eaten by quick reply.
I'm puzzled that the voting thread is up, if the SK is still coming. I wouldn't be too quick to judge the the companions. Ivan is a scientist, after all. Or this could be a drug anyone could buy/steal. It wasn't particularly fast acting, and it was meant to induce sleep rather than kill.

*looks around at all the people suddenly pointing the companion's way * Woah what?
You know just about anyone could put a sleep aid into someone's tea. From the sounds of it they weren't that good at it hence the bungle on the dosage. I don't think the companions with the training thus described would have screwed it up.
Thankfully ( I think ) no one hung Jin from the first hit for having some knowledge of mechanics. Let's not hang the companions for drinking tea. O_o

I didn’t think it worked that way. Are you telling me its possible for the mafia to kill the wrong person? /boggle
That opens up a whole can of worms about the mechanics of this game that doesn’t make it as strait forward as it seems.
I understand that the sheriff ID’s people, but am unsure how the he/she comes about the likely candidates. Is it some secret vote process similar to how mafia hits are determined? If that is so, everyone must think I’m mafia, because I haven’t gotten any PM’s.
The mafia were planning on knocking Inara out so that they could use her terminal to contact the Alliance authorities. However, the wrong person drank the tea and ended up dying.

I was wondering that myself. Also if she was she ID'd a mafia before she died. Though it does sound as if the sheriff was another person who walked in with but maybe it was that Lyn was the sheriff and told someone else, an adult who could talk to another adult because people wouldn't believe a child. *ponders*

From the lynch thread…
From the SK kill thread…
Remember, the SK is still out there…
Sitting on the scaffolds above the main cargo bay, Jayne chewed a bit of apple from the end of a large, and malicious looking knife. ~
~ He chewed the last bit of apple off the knife, then carved out another slice as he watched the group with mixed interest. ~
~ Jayne finished off another slice of apple and then tossed the rest down to the cargo bay floor.
~ He heard someone coming up from behind him, and the way their footsteps fell on the grating told him it was Kaylee. Live on a boat this long with the same crowd and you just know that kind of thing.
~ “I’d lock my bunk tonight I were you,†he said to her, not bothering to turn around.
From the SK kill thread…
The surgeon’s blade feels cold in my hand ~
~ and the footsteps come. Clank. Clank. Clank.
Remember, the SK is still out there…

No worries - my first game I didn't get any PMs until pretty late in the game. Of course, the best way to get PMs is to send them...folks are more likely to reply than initiate with a new person. There is also a group of established players...I imagine they are all talking to each other as well...just gotta break the ice to get the info you're after.
I'm still pretty new, so I'll let a vet answer the sheriff question. I'm pretty sure I get it, but I already dropped the ball on the SK issue, so I could be off base.
As far as I know, the Mafia can't *accidentally* kill someone, that would be narrative flair. The fact that it was unintentional could also be narrative, or it could be the hint.
I also got munched on by quick reply, so good looking out.

Well I'm not getting any PM's either but then I talk to people via IM.. not getting a lot of those either but since everyone seems to be after the filthy whores I'm not surprised. *wonders if Jin's "certain" knowledge will her character lynched again*

Poisoning is not really the Mafia way.... The Mafia way is up close and personal.
I am trying to understand why they hit Lyn.
To me she would pose no threat unless she saw or heard something she should not have.
I really thing the poison tea route is our best lead/clue to go one right now.

duexe, I don't understand what you're pointing out about Jayne. He doesn't have a roll in the actual game play. He's more of just a prop to enhance the storyline, as is the rest of the crew from the series.
As for the tea, I don't think there's any special clue in there about who did it. The ships infermary could have some sort of sedatives or sleep aids that they could've used. There's not really anything in the mafia hit that stands out to me except Lyn. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I think she was the sheriff.
